Real Hospitality
Offer hospitality to one another . . . use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. 1 Peter 4:9–10
“Kumain ka na ba?” (Have you eaten?)
This is what you’ll always hear as a visitor in many homes in the Philippines, where I’m from. It’s the Filipino way of expressing care and kindness for our guests. And regardless of your reply, your host will always prepare something for you to eat. Filipinos believe that true kindness isn’t just saying the standard greeting but also going beyond words to show real hospitality.
Rebekah too, knew all about being kind. Her daily chores included drawing water from the well outside town and carrying the heavy jar of water home. When Abraham’s servant, who was very thirsty from his journey, asked for a little water from her jar, she didn’t hesitate to give him a drink (Genesis 24:17–18).
But then Rebekah did even more. When she saw that the visitor’s camels were thirsty, she quickly offered to go back to draw more water for them (vv. 19–20). She didn’t hesitate to help, even if it meant making an extra trip (or more) to the well and back with a heavy jar.
Life is tough for many people, and often a small gesture of practical kindness can encourage them and lift their spirits. Being a channel of God’s love doesn’t always mean delivering a powerful sermon or planting a church. Sometimes, it can simply be giving someone a drink of water. — Karen Huang
Who do you know who might need some encouragement? What act of practical kindness can you offer to encourage them?
Heavenly Father, open my eyes to the needs of people around me. Give me the wisdom to know how to show kindness and care to them.

Good evening, Mayor, and thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
We made it through hump day. I can’t believe my day went relatively smoothly. And after 3” of snow yesterday, it is now all melted
Hope your week is going as planned. Are you done with snow for the year?

Good evening, lightman...we must always remember the fallen and honor those that have served. Right now I’m tending to feel bad for those in now and the lack of leadership they have for the jobs they need to do.

Good evening, Pro...all our snow is gone again. We had 3” by mid-morning, and it had all melted by 9pm.
Are you ready to mow the lawn yet? Is it growing fast? When do you do all the fertilizer, etc, stuff?

Hi Kathy!
It is mowing season, I mow each Tuesday, grass isn't growing real fast yet, and then the yard debris carts are emptied the following day.
The irrigation water was just turned on again by the city so fertilizing will happen soon.

Howdy, luvie.
I hope you enjoyed your cooler day.
It was steamy here before the front came through. Boy, was that a dud after the hype of severe weather. One boom of thunder and a brief light shower. LOL

Hey there, radu!
The cooler weather has been lovely even though it arrived with high winds yesterday. Ack. It will be cooler tomorrow, too, and then warm back up. The air was so crisp and it felt good to breathe it. Even though there were a million allergens in it. LOL!
Well, thank goodness for a dud. You just needed a bit of rain and no violent stuff.

Good evening, ML...((HUGS))...all our 3” of real snow melted later in the day. Lots of melting during the days and still freezing at night. Just today I can see the first patch of grass in the back yard.
Are you replanting anything in the ground? Maybe some new seeds?

I gather the wind was calm today which had to be a relief after yesterday. You have one more comfy day to look forward to. :-)
It was breezy here but nothing like last week when the wind was howling. We broke 80 this afternoon and tomorrow is supposed to be around 60. Low 50s Friday and Saturday. Then we warm back up Sunday into next week. I guess this is dogwood winter since the dogwoods are beginning to bloom.

I always loved when the dogwoods started blooming when we lived in Georgia. They were so pretty, especially the wild ones along the highways and roads.
We have mesquites. LOL! They are the last trees to get leaves and to us that’s a sign that all freezes are over with. Poor ugly things.
