‘It Will Save Lives’: Steve Kerr Calls for Gun Control After Sacramento Shooting

On Sunday, Steve Kerr, the coach of the Golden State Warriors, spoke about last weekend’s shooting in Sacramento and used the incident to call for more gun control laws.

Kerr, who is known as a radical leftist who often uses his position as an NBA coach to push far-left political policies, demanded that lawmakers make more stringent anti-gun laws after the shooting that left six dead and a dozen wounded earlier in the day.

I would further contend that “gun control” which has the net effect of disarming law abiding citizens, actually increases violence and crime. It lowers one of the thresholds for criminal behavior. With strict “gun control” in place, criminals know that their potential victims are less likely to be armed. With that much less to fear, criminal behaviors are more likely.

Before elected officials yell for gun control, I would like the police to tell us more about the crime. I suspect that this was related to gang activity or involved gang members.

If that is the case, we don’t need gun control, we need gang control laws. California already has lots of laws to “control” guns. The problem is how do you control criminal activity, especially when it involves gangs and career criminals.

IIRC there's a case before SCOTUS right now that is said to be a major 2nd Amendment case. The usual SCOTUS procedure is to announce a number of decisions in May and June each year. Considering what's recently happened with Heller,MacDonald and Caetano v Massachusetts I think we can be a bit hopeful that the laws of states like Kalifornia and Massachusetts will soon be a thing of the past.

It is particularly dishonest to use the case of a mass shooting to advance the cause of various measures that were already in place at said mass shooting and which did absolutely nothing to stop it, and may even have encouraged it by making the target location softer by disarming attendees.
