Ukraine’s forces regained full control of the region around capital city Kyiv on Saturday for the first time since Russia invaded the country at the end of February, according to a Ukrainian official.

Hanna Malyar, the deputy minister for Ukraine’s defense ministry, shared the news in a Facebook post. Malyar said Ukrainians should still refrain from returning to their homes, citing ongoing efforts to clear the area, including from leftover mines.

The Hill? Posted on Facebook? I’d like to see something more reliable. Good news if true, though.

I guess one could say Ukraine regained control of Kiev after Russia withdrew.....but it ceretainly isn’t because they drove Russia away militarily. Russia never inteded to ‘take’ Kiev, just surround and contain it.

I agree....and get rid of old stock...which Ukraine has to spend time cleaning up while maintaining a defensive position and with the population elsewhere. Yay!!! We have a mess!!

The Hill has quit taking comments. They must have gotten tired of the Biden insults. Democrats don’t like to be questioned.
Don’t trust the Hill.

“Russia never inteded to ‘take’ Kiev, just surround and contain it.”

So the fact that Russia gained zero ground in the east while it’s forces were around Kiev has to be a pretty disastrous failure right?

Zelensky is begging the world to help him. Russia has accomplished it’s major objectives.

And Europe is still paying Putin for their oil.......

It’s been known that Russia was pulling out of Kiev. So now Ukraine is just moving back in where they pulled out.

Russia I believe is focused on Donbas area now as they want to keep that area in the peace agreement.

Their military really does suck...always has. Their best bet is a strategic retreat and try to hold what they really want to keep.

Not sure about that Putin accomplishing his major objectives. Because his #1 objective was to replace the leadership in Ukraine. He clearly failed (so far) at that.

***That's what the whole thing was about, the oil basin areas. This war is about OIL.

Russia could return, blast-away until the rubble bounced, reduce Ukraine Army numbers even more, return, and still encircle Kiev...

And Russia could continue to lose equipment and lives. That’s the only thing the Russian military appears good at...they don’t mind losing lives.

You are one of the most delusional posters on FR. If you aren’t licking the boots of American cops, you are licking the Russians boots.
They got smoked trying to take Kiev and had no choice but to withdraw due to being decimated.

Get lost already traitor.

The ability to shuck and jive exhibited here is amazing. So Putin never intended to take Kiev. He just wanted to pretend to try to take Kiev, lose a few hundred tanks, a few thousand men, and then retreat. That was his plan all along...

Russian is gearing for a big push in Kharkiv.

Kharkiv is a big city, I think it’s the second largest in Ukraine. Mariupol has been a grind, I think the urban warfare in Kharkiv will be worse.

The true traitors are the countries still buying Russian oil and gas, and the politicians here in the US, who won’t ramp up domestic energy production.

Just proves this is a hyped crisis being used by our politicians to push the Great Reset and their BS EVs.

Feigned war with phony tactics on all sides.
