It is known that Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu removed Lieutenant General Vladislav Yershov from his duties. He was the commander of the 6th Combined Arms Army of the country.
According to preliminary data, 2,000 servicemen were missing from the 6th Army alone. Of these, about 180 people are conscript soldiers.
It is known that now General Eroshov is under house arrest.

The intelligence services told him what he wanted to hear, that the people of Ukraine were under the control of a small gang of Nazis and drug addicts and that they would greet Russian troops as liberators.
Putin himself created this atmosphere in which he is surrounded by fearful sycophants.
How many officers can you fire/arrest and still have an army?
Eventually the military will revolt.......................
I’m late - is the 3th or 4th time for today the the Uks have defeated Russia? Usually we get at least 7 “this time for sure, really!” that the Ukes have demolished the Russian military per day.
Officers will be executed until morale improves?
I tend to agree with your assessment. I am sure that this conflict is going to shake out a lot of the dead wood from the Russian military and the military procurement bureaucracy. If Putin was smart he would identify the best performers in the ranks and promote them to noncoms and to keep them for a long time. Putin should also clean out the officer corps for poor performance and promote combat veterans into their positions.
I hope you're right. But let's keep in mind that Stalin killed off nearly the entire Soviet officer corps in the 1930s and there was no revolt.
Or, they were all just wrong.
Yershov was the scape goat
The army never revolted in WWII and Stalin conducted purges right on the front lines. Of course ideology made some of that possible. People were true believers in the Revolution and were willing to quietly sacrifice themselves for the good of the Party. That kind of religious conviction is not in play now so the army might revolt, but it would take officers the troops actually trusted, especially NCOs to pull it off.
Stalin got Zhukov, Konev, and the ass-kickers after the purge. Don’t know if that will be the case this time.
Also those Russians were still semi-literate, semi-medieval peasants deeply cowed by red terror. The Russians since the fall of the USSR are not those type of Russians. They’ve had 1 or 2 generations of living reasonably well stocked shelves & variety at stores, the ability to travel, communicate with the outside world. I can’t see these young Russians going back to a 1950s Stalinist life style with a smile on their face and a song in their heart!

You’re forgetting about the Dictator’s dilemma. Putin cannot have both an effective modern military command and remain in power forever. He has to choose one or the other, and he has already made his choice.
Stalin came close to answering that question in the late 30s; his military purge sent many capable officers to the gulag (and/or the grave) and left the Red Army with political hacks and toadies who were loyal party members, but militarily incompetent. A major reason Hitler almost defeated the Russians in 1941.
I'm not sure I've seen a single article on FR claiming that Russia has been defeated. Literally not even one. So I'm pretty sure this isn't the 3rd of 4th time you've read that today. You're just reflexively ridiculing anything that the Russians aren't having a cakewalk through Ukraine.
It's reasonable not to accept every claim from either side as the gospel. But one thing that has seemed to be fairly accurate are Ukrainian claims that certain senior Russian officers have been killed, and I say that because they all seem to have been confirmed by the Russians as well.
A particular officer being relieved isn't quite the same thing, but I imagine the underlying sources -- intercepted radio communications -- are the same. So while you may be hoping very badly for this not to be true, I wouldn't bet on that.
I don't know, we have a lot of young people in this country that want to go back to the stone age for their beliefs in socialism and global warming.
In one or two generations the Russians might want that too!
NO, they want YOU to do that. They're good where they are.
