Mayor Adams looking at dropping NYPD college credit requirement

Mayor Adams opened the door Friday to scrapping a city rule requiring NYPD officer applicants to have earned college credits.

Adams, himself a retired NYPD captain, entertained the idea after a closed-door meeting with Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, whose administration recently scrapped a similar requirement for the Windy City’s police department.

“I like what the mayor is doing in the recruitment. We’re hearing all over the country that there is a requirement problem with police officers,” Adams said during a joint press conference with Lightfoot at Chicago City Hall after their sit-down. “There were historical barriers that were preventing people from using life experiences to waives. We’re going to look to duplicate that in New York City.”

“DumDown De Police”?

Where does he think that “social workers” learn to be social workers?

No no...can’t have intelligent people on the force. They might question orders.

If the applicants can’t meet the standards, lower the standards.

This, coupled with the dropping of American citizenship, will pave the way for illegals to join the NYPD. If the decent people left in NYC haven’t gotten the clue to move yet, it’s probably too late.

“There were historical barriers..."

And what might those 'historical barriers' be, Mr Mayor?? I have to wonder about that mindset..

As long as they have the clot shot and follow orders, that’s all that matters.

Maybe they should recruit gang members like they do for their politicians.

New York City is financially broke. The "Defund the Police" movement was about reducing the number of cops on the payroll (and pensions) by falsely claiming cops were brutal and that having fewer on the roster was better for "oppressed minorities" (even though minorities suffer worst with police reductions).

Oops, too much, too soon, and too many cops left. New York City government can't hire enough cops to cover the shortfall, so crime spikes, people (and businesses) stay away, and the financial situation worsens.

New York City government's solution? Lower the standards for recruits and pretend that the new recruits can solve the problems that seasoned law enforcement was prevented from solving.

New York City will rue the day Mayor Kaiser Wilhelm Deblasio ordered the firing of twice-cleared officer Panteleo, for decades.

Why would a police officer need a college education?
Maybe they feel there’s not enough indoctrination in high school.

How about dropping the death vaccine and having the mayor’s office support the police to increase recruitment?

Why would a police officer need a college education?

There's an increasing level of complexity to crime and criminal behavior and the officers need to be ahead of the game.

The days of the revolver, baton, and whistle are long gone. The job is more computerized, more legally intricate, and requires more far more sophistication.

I'm not a fan of crime shows but viewers can see how criminals up until not long ago could continue to prey on victims before the data-sharing systems were put in place, just by relocating to new jurisdictions.

A cop is expected to be an equipment expert, a legal journeyman, a first-aid responder, a social worker, a building layout pro, and a critical thinker.
...and that's just day one.

The simple truth here is that nobody with an IQ over 70 would ever want to be an NYPD officer.

Unless someone is able to get a two-year Associate’s Degree, there’s simply no way to know if the person can even read, without testing them.

College degree requirements are primarily a basic competency screening tool. An increasingly meaningless one and which imposes enormous costs on high school graduates and society.

In the decadent phase of a civilization, all standards drop.

We are now experiencing the Decadence of Western Civilization. There is no up-side to it.
