U.S. National Average Price of Gasoline Hits New All-Time Record High March 07, 2022
Previous record of $4.10 per gallon set in 2008 has fallen as gas prices continue to rise
BOSTON (March 7, 2022) -- The national average price of gasoline in the U.S. today broke the existing record, rewriting the all-time high to today’s $4.104 per gallon, according to GasBuddy, the leading fuel savings platform saving North American drivers the most money on gas. The previous all-time high was set back in 2008 at $4.103 per gallon, just ahead of the U.S. Great Recession and housing crisis. The national average price of diesel is also nearing a new record, now at $4.63 per gallon, likely to break the record of $4.846 per gallon in the next two weeks.
In addition to setting a new all-time high, the national average is seeing its largest ever 7 day spike: 49.1 cents per gallon, eclipsing the 49.0 cent weekly rise after Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Many gas price records have been broken due to Russia’s war on Ukraine, which has pushed Western countries to impose severe sanctions on Russia, curbing Russian exports of crude oil to the global market.
On Saturday, the U.S. national average gas price surpassed $4 per gallon for the first time since 2008, and Friday’s spike alone came close to the record daily rise of 18 cents per gallon, increasing nearly 16 cents per gallon in one day. Diesel prices, however, did break records on Friday, as diesel soared to its largest daily gain ever: 22.2 cents per gallon, 6 cents higher than the previous record from 2013.
“Americans have never seen gasoline prices this high, nor have we seen the pace of increases so fast and furious. That combination makes this situation all the more

AP HEADLINE: “President Biden continues to break records wowing his supporters almost daily.”
“The previous all-time high was set back in 2008 at $4.103 per gallon, “
Over $5 at today’s prices.
Covids fault, no wait. Ukraines fault, wait. Trumps fault, yeah, that’s the ticket.
AP headlines, “Biden hits new polling low at 43 percent. Down from 41 last week.” “Republicans continue to lead the generic ballot 47 to 46 percent.”
They put down their bongs, combed their purple hair, adjusted their gear inside their dresses, and made this up.
Heck, his ratings are in the mid 30s everywhere. No bounce from SOTU at all. AP might try to put him in the 40s, but everyone knows better.
Here in Socal you cannot find gasoline under $5 per gallon. Most of the cheapest priced gas stations are over $5.25. Prices at 4pm are about 10 cents or 15 cents higher than they were at the same gas station at 7am. We will be at or above $7 per gallon this month.
Until the price of Oil goes so high that no one buys it and then it does a crash dive again to cheap Oil
Imagine the headlines if Trump was still president. Not that we would have all these problems.
Let’s go Brandon!
$3.57 average in nwArkansas today.
Last Friday, local prices were around $3.25 and that was up from $3.11 last Monday.
We did it!!! We worked hard, persevered, stayed focused, and achieved greatness
Biden is up at Rasmussen, gone from -33 in approval to -22 in about 2 weeks. Rasmussen sold but they still use his method, which is a good one.
Friend in Hot Springs say $3.59-3.75 there.
We've gone up almost $1/gal in the last two weeks. Crazy.
FJB!
Goin down the road, feelin bad.
What difference does it make? The government won’t include it in the next inflation report, so the people are just imagining that gas is over $5/gal
Luckily, about half of driving is completely discretionary and can be cut out.
Vacation and touring, travel to second homes, travel to sporting events, concerts, and entertainment venues, kids driving to school, discretionary shopping trips, eating out, visiting friends and relatives, going to religious services and functions, recreational shopping, etc.
And they are just getting started
Yep, and nobody’s even bothered yet, just griping and driving everywhere anyway. Obviously, gas isn’t really very expensive.
When people start demonstrating in the streets we’ll know it’s starting to get too high.
