Portland is already on track to surpass last year's record-breaking homicide rate with murders up 10 percent as the progressive policies of America's most woke city struggle to curtail violent crime.
The liberal Pacific Northwest bastion topped off February with 22 murders so far this year - up from the 19 in 2021 - and is on track to hit around 130 by December, according to the Oregonian.
The city, which slashed its police budget in the wake of protests over George Floyd's murder, set a record last year with 92 homicides - the highest since there were 70 homicides in 1987.

It’s a positive feedback loop. As fewer murders and other crimes get solved and criminals imprisoned, the criminals get more control over the area.
As they gain more effective control, fewer people dare to cooperate with the police, fewer witnesses testify, and more crimes go unpunished.
I feel for the law-abiding who can’t leave.

There is a fallacy in the Article. Portland is no longer America.
What happens there does not matter to real Americans
I live in Washington near Portland, I make trips over every few years. I went to Nordstrom downtown yesterday. I couldn’t believe how many business were boarded up. Heavy police presence, homeless encampments. I have lived here for 32 years. When we moved to WA, Portland was the cheapest, safest downtown areas in the nation, it was beautiful. Now it’s unlivable.
Keep calm! it’s only murder, if it was something important there would be reason to be concerned.

In a communist polity criminals are Social Allies. They keep the dangerous middle class on edge and constantly looking to their rulers for protection.
