California Gas Sets All-Time Record

As inflation caused by resident Biden's policies continues to drive fuel prices higher, Russia's invasion of Ukraine and the international instability that's followed has resulted in a new record-setting highs at the pump beginning on Thursday: $5.067 per gallon on average in San Francisco — the first time a U.S. city passed the $5 mark.

Following Thursday's spike in San Francisco, California's statewide average for regular unleaded also crossed the $5 threshold for the first time ever to reach $5.074 per gallon early Friday morning while California's statewide average for diesel also set an all-time record of $5.335 per gallon.

Fuel prices elsewhere in the country continue to rise as well, and a 10-cent increase overnight drove the U.S. national average for a gallon of gas to $3.837 on Friday — 41 cents higher than one month ago, and $1.09 more per gallon than one year ago.

The folks at GasBuddy warned this week that San Francisco's record-setting prices aren't likely to be the peak of this surge either. As the weather warms in northern states, demand will increase and prices will rise along with it.

"Unfortunately, this record is likely just the beginning of a larger trend of price spikes to come to California and the entire country," noted Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis for GasBuddy, on Thursday.

As Biden said, they should just find a way to “lower their costs”.

“California Gas Sets All-Time Record”

Jen Response: “Well that shows that Californians need to learn to drive less.”

How can this be a record? In October ‘21 I paid $5.25 a gallon in Sacramento and Mammoth Lakes while on vacation. During the Obama administration I paid $5+ in Mammoth Lakes. I guess I need that Gas Buddy app.

California hates gas and oil companies

To compensate for shortages, Exxon et al should cease selling gas in California and sell it in America

The article does not mention that California has a $1.19 per gallon gas tax.

They voted for this so those democrat cockroaches can now suffer. /spit

YES you do.

It's free.

Yesterday the price spread in my neck of the woods was $1.09. On the average you can save about a quarter to half that per gallon, just by picking a lower cost station. AND you don't have to burn gas driving all over town to find it.

If a significant part of us drivers told the market we won't buy at the excessively high priced stations, that will help keep the price down for everyone.

The refineries in California should not bother to do the expensive conversion to California summer formulation, then blandly tell the state that by California law they cannot sell their product in California and are shipping it all to freer states where they can!

Of course it would work! It’s what you said in the first place!

All I did was add a bullet proof reason to save money up front, make more money elsewhere and tell California to stuff it or change their punitive laws!

“They should just take a kickboxing class and have a margarita”

Agree. And every large city in California has bus services. Let the peasants eat buses.

Due to the EPA boutique blends laws, they are not allowed to do that. They can only blend CA formulas and they can only sell it to CA. It takes special EPA permission to do otherwise.

Get permission or mothball the refineries.

The time for playing nicy nice is over.

Alternatively, there are PLENTY of valuable petroleum products that aren’t motor vehicle fuels.
