The operator of the Russia-led gas pipeline project Nord Stream 2 said on Tuesday it had to terminate contracts with employees because of U.S. sanctions.

-snip-

"Following the recent geopolitical developments leading to the imposition of U.S. sanctions on Nord Stream 2 AG, the company had to terminate contracts with employees. We very much regret this development," it said in an emailed statement.

Pretty soon we’ll be in a worldwide depression due to inflation and unemployment, the DIMS will be setting up internment camps of Russian Americans, we’ll be in an European war, etc...sounds familiar

Euro banks funded 10 BN in the project, so what is happening to them. How much is the paper now?

It will come back...

Russia invades Ukraine. Russia is evil. Ukraine is corrupt. It’s almost like when Alabama plays Georgia, and you hope both teams lose.

However, in this case, Russia invaded Ukraine. That isn’t something invented by George Soros, the Left Wing Media, or the Deep State. Russia invaded Ukraine. Regardless of the broader picture, in this case Russians are the bad guys.

It’s amazing how many conservatives attempt to justify this.

I’m not one of them.

I don’t feel compelled to pick sides. Neither deserves my support. Switzerland may not be neutral anymore, but I still am.

Russia accounts for nearly half of gas imports into Europe while Russia supplies around 10% of the natural gas to the world. By Biden placing sanctions on the Nord Stream he has offered Putin a weapon that they are starting to use. This is no surprise. Putin has them all by the short ones. And the Biden administration set the whole thing up for him with stupid moves.

You’re not alone. I am amazed at how many people here are actually cheering on Russia.

Ignorance at its worst.

Russia has energy to sell.

Europe needs to buy energy.

Business transactions related to that should continue.

There should be no interference with the physical and financial mechanisms necessary for those business transactions to continue.

Putin is a bad guy.

Ordinary Russians are not bad based on being ethnically Russian or based on living in Russia.

Biden excluded Russian oil imports to the US in the sanctions. We import approx. 700,000 barrels of oil per day from Russia. This means we are helping fund Putin’s war.

Why in hell are we importing oil from Russia? Because Biden cut our energy production and it had to be made up somewhere. Ideological insanity at it’s worst.

“Ideological insanity at it’s worst.”

All very true. But Biden has put his eggs in the proverbial one basket of ecology and it is a bad choice as the rest of the world doesn’t care about our ecological efforts to save a world they own and want to do with as they please. Just another arrogant effort to ride in on that white horse and display their righteous and self serving actions trying to fool the world into buying their ineptitude.

It does sound familiar.

My great grandparents fled Russia when the Czar started drafting 14 + year olds in the early 1900’s. They spoke both Russian and German.

My dad had a lot of stories, and “his kind” were treated very badly. It was like the “Gangs of New York” even in farming towns.
