Sunday on New York WABC 770 AM radio’s “The Cats Roundtable,” Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-SD) argued that President Joe Biden and his administration intended to “push people out of” fuel-based vehicles with their energy policy. Thune told host John Catsimatidis that Democrats want to be more “eco-friendly,” so they have decided to push people toward electric vehicles. “I think honestly, that’s part of the strategy,” Thune outlined. “I think it’s to push people out of, you know, fuel-based vehicles. But you are absolutely going to crush the economy and a lot of middle-income families, many of whom are not going to be able to convert to [electric vehicles].” “The requirements that we’re going to have to meet in this country for the foreseeable future are going to have to be met with fuel oil, which we have an abundance of in this country, but because of policies that are out of whack relative to what the real economy is dictating, [is] not being developed,” he added. “It’s unfortunate and sad that the United States of America is going to hat-in-hand to countries in the Middle East like the Saudis asking them to produce more energy so that we can fuel our economy here in the United States when we can do it on our own.” Thune also slammed Biden’s decision to shut down the Keystone XL pipeline and instead “support” the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. “The notion that the United States of America would shut down an American pipeline and yet … support one that Putin is using to keep his economy going … the irony of that and the absolute hypocrisy of that you can’t even fathom,” he concluded.

Biden’s policies caused my utilities bills to jump.
Going to need approximately 2,500 more power plants
A blind man could have seen this coming. Obama did it to some extent, and now it’s being pushed harder.
The bad news is, a significant portion of the public is ok with this. Especially the ones that can afford or who have already bought electric cars.
Ya. And how will they get their power? From wind and solar? Lol.
It’s definitely meant to make our vehicles useless.
But it doesn’t add up. It is unsustainable. Even for the electric car people.
It will destroy American as we know it because they have no plan at all except, maybe, the destruction of America.
What are you going to do about it, Thune?
No, it’s meant to keep people from driving.
Period.
Which is an attack aimed at the burbs and rural areas in particular.
IOW, the red bits.
Bingo.
Yes. These people have decided that we don’t need vehicles or any other possessions and we will be happy.
“But it doesn’t add up. It is unsustainable. “
Anyone with more than a brain stem can figure that out. Yet I’ve been in “debates” with posters here, telling me such stupid things as: They can all be charged at night.
The under 40 crowd is all for it. Most Democrats are for it, even the ones who go and by a Ford F250, (electric for thee, not for me). And a good number of Republicans are for it.
The left’s goal is to destroy the country, and they have a good number of useful idiots helping.
One cannot help the environmentally-ill. They cannot comprehend the math
Nothing gets past this guy..../s
2500 NUCLEAR power plants, to minimize CO2 emissions, and good luck with that! The US’s industrial infrastructure for nuclear power plants basically evaporated after 3 Mile Island and adverse economics. I used to work in that industry (ex-nuclear engineer) and jumped ship to aerospace in the late 70’s. What the US has left is only enough the support the US Navy’s carrier and submarine programs.
In the word of an ex-boss’ mom.*who’s husband is named Jack)
“Jack and I travel all over the world and the workers in other countries don’t have cars or nice houses and they seem perfectly happy. Why can’t OUR workers be like that?”
With emphasis put on “our” as implying some sort of ownership. Of course this was in FL where it’s warm and flat and she was speaking of countries with similar climates. Warm/hot and flat. Those are the kinds of countries they liked visiting because they were treated like royalty by the brown inhabitants.
Some British cities are setting up CO2 -emitting vehicle tax zones.
Buddy, can you spare a 10 pound portrait of the Queen, for the daily tax?
That fire on the Felicity Ace with those lithium batteries burning from the electric cars onboard is really good for the environment, isn’t it?
It is working on our cul de sac and counties north of Gay Frisco.
Gas is at $5/gallon and will probably be over $10/gal with all of the Ca. taxes by this time next year.
We are looking at the Honda Hybrid. We are 82 and 83 and could care less if their batteries go to car heaven after 7 years.
Also, there is apparently a Fed and Ca. tax refund if we buy a hybrid and zero smogging hassles and costs.
Thine is the Commie who just worked with Democrats to assure passage of the continuing resolution WITHOUT ending Wuflu mandates.
