The US’s industrial infrastructure for nuclear power plants basically evaporated after 3 Mile Island and adverse economics. I used to work in that industry (ex-nuclear engineer) and jumped ship to aerospace in the late 70’s. What the US has left is only enough the support the US Navy’s carrier and submarine programs.
