Families of Sandy Hook victims settled their lawsuit Tuesday with Remington Arms, manufacturer of the AR-15 automatic gun used to kill 20 kids and 6 staff members in the 2012 massacre.
The nine families brought a class-action suit in 2014 against Remington Arms, which made the weapon used in the mass shooting claiming the gun-maker sought to sell the military-grade weapon to the mentally ill.

I’m shocked, SHOCKED!, that this could have just been a money-grab the entire time. But terms have yet to be released, if they will be released at all.
From here on out I stay away from Remington products.
You do not settle for something that was not your fault, thereby impugning, indirectly, the rest of the industry.
bad juju...
Total garbage.
Can I sue Honda for a DUI crash into me?
How about McD’s for obesity?
Benchmade for a stabbing?
Not to mention Remington will invariably raise prices to cover
this loss.
That aside, I thought the weapon was his mother’s. You know the mother whom he killed to obtain the weapon?
To me, it seems the plaintiffs had an impossible case to prove to be able to win the case.
Not sure whats going on, but it doesn’t seem like 1+1=2 here.
How the hell do you prove something like that about a company that ships only to FFL holders?
If the whack-job leftist perp had used a machete like they did in Rwanda, would they have gone after the machete manufacturer?
You DO settle when you believe going through trial and getting a jury verdict of guilty, thereby potentially costing you 330 Million, or 3 billion, is a real possibility. Most of these big business decisions are that, strictly business decisions. So don’t get upset at the outcome!
WHICH Remington?
They went bust a couple years ago and were parted out.
I’d speculate they ‘settled’ since there weren’t any more assets to attach to.
Yep, no more Remington for me either. They should have fought this to the Supreme Court if necessary.
The perp had an automatic?
The company did what they had to do. It’s the plaintiffs I take issue with.
Haha. No he did not. You can’t expect a newspaper writer to actually know about guns, can you?
Lead and copper miners next to be sued.
The first two paragraphs of the article are pure crap. I’m surprised it came from the NY Post. It wasn’t an automatic weapon like they stated, nor was it military grade.
Remington Arms doesn’t exist. In 2020 it went bankrupt for the second time in two years and the court ordered it broken up. All of the constituent companies that Remington formerly operated, Bushmaster (who built the AR in question), Marlin, DPMS, Barnes ammunition, Remington Arms & Remington ammunition, et Al, all have been sold and now are under ownership of other companies who will be better stewards of the Second Amendment and the firearms industry in general than the now-defunct Remington was.
So everywhere this article mentions “Remington” in conjunction to the lawsuit or any attempts at an out of court settlement, substitute “the former Remington’s insurer.”
About 15 years ago, I sat in on a mach trial event where a Coca-Cola truck t-boned a couple girls who ran a stop sign, killing one girl, and maiming the other. Clearly, it was not Coke’s fault. However, while the jury delivered a not guilty verdict, several in the jury posed, “Yes, it was not Coke’s fault, but Coke is so big, why can’t they pay like 2.5M$ to the parents/girls to help them out?” It is this kind of nonsense these big companies run into. Coca-Cola settled on THAT “accident” as well, making a nominal payment, even though it was not their fault. It was far more beneficial as a business decision to pay something than to send these poor people packing and take on the widespread dsgust that might affect the bottom line.
Yep. Ruger is now building Marlins and the quality is back in spades. The new Mod 1895 is sweet.
What exactly did Remington do that was wrong? Manufacture and sell a legal product in accordance with Federal law? It was the kid’s parents that brought the firearm into the home and let their obviously deranged child have access to it.
