It would hit Alina Black at Trader Joe’s, a wave of guilt and shame that made her skin crawl. Something as simple as nuts. They came wrapped in plastic, often in layers of it, that she imagined leaving her house and traveling to a landfill, where it would remain through her lifetime and the lifetime of her children.
She longed, really longed, to make less of a mark on the earth. At the age of 37, these conflicting forces were slowly closing on her, like a set of jaws. In the early-morning hours, after nursing the baby, she would slip down a rabbit hole, scrolling through news reports of droughts, fires, mass extinction. Then she would stare into the dark. It was for this reason that, around six months ago, she searched “climate anxiety” and pulled up the name of Thomas J. Doherty, a Portland psychologist who specializes in climate.
A decade ago, Dr. Doherty and a colleague, Susan Clayton, published a paper proposing a new idea. They argued that climate change would have a powerful psychological impact — not just on the people bearing the brunt of it, but on people following it through news and research. At the time, the notion was seen as speculative.
That skepticism is fading. Eco-anxiety, a concept introduced by young activists, has entered a mainstream vocabulary. And professional organizations are hurrying to catch up, exploring approaches to treating anxiety that is both existential and, many would argue, rational.
Though there is little empirical data on effective treatments, the field is expanding swiftly. The Climate Psychology Alliance provides an online directory of climate-aware therapists; the Good Grief Network, a peer support network modeled on 12-step addiction programs, has spawned more than 50 groups; professional certification programs in climate psychology have begun to appear.

Eco-Anxiety...So stupid. Cannot we be smart and use common sense?
‘...modeled on 12-step addiction programs,..’
Only 8.98 years left. Boo.
“Cannot we be smart and use common sense?”
I’m absolutely convinced the nation will not get back to common sense basics until WW III happens. When people start growing food in the Victory Gardens, recycling all steel and rubber, cannot buy new tires, are rationed on their gasoline purchases...only then will we become a serious national again.
‘I’m absolutely convinced the nation will not get back to common sense basics until WW III happens....’
We are such a spoiled bunch. Complaining about 1st world problems... .
Where is the pleasure in life which is unmixed with sorrow?
Where the glory which on earth has stood firm and unchanged?
All things are weaker than shadow,
all more illusive than dreams;
comes one fell stroke,
and Death in turn, prevails over all these vanities.
Wherefore in the Light, O Christ,
of Your countenance,
the sweetness of Your beauty,
to him (her) whom You have chosen grant repose,
for You are the Friend of Mankind.

The climalarmists are more concerned about those who do not have such a condition and could use such services. Excerpts:
PORTLAND, Ore Thomas J. Doherty, a Portland psychologist who specializes in climate she describes her anxiety as a “luxury problem. She began to ask herself, what is the relationship between the diapers and the wildfires?... “multiday panic episodes” Much of their first session was devoted to her doomscrolling, He also draws on logotherapy, or existential therapy, a field founded by Viktor E. Frankl, who survived German concentration camps and then wrote “Man’s Search for Meaning,” which described how prisoners in Auschwitz were able to live fulfilling lives......her previous therapist really didn’t know what a Keeling Curve was,
an 18-year-old student who sometimes experiences panic attacks so severe that she can’t get out of bed; a 69-year-old glacial geologist who is sometimes overwhelmed with sadness when he looks at his grandchildren; a man in his 50s who erupts in frustration over his friends’ consumption choices, unable to tolerate their chatter about vacations in Tuscany.

And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. (Luke 21:25-27)
What will happen when the imminent climate collapse predicted by the climate doomsayers fails to materialize? Certainly if we were truly on the verge of catastrophe there would already be signs of climate collapse. Already I am seeing local weather forecasters trotting out graphs supposedly showing a trend of rising temperatures, but these a obviously skewed and disappear when we are having record cold. Texas is on the verge of another blackout and I expect places like California will also be seeing the results of depending on fickle winds and intermittent sunshine to power their state. Biden’s folly of pushing federal agencies to EVs will quickly become a joke as stranded feds and mail delivery vehicles litter the roadways.
Snowflake hysteria.
Demonstrates the delusion and arrogance of man. Earth has been here thousands of years. But now, due to an imaginary lthreat, man is able to destroy it? Really? 🙄
Is the author really Dave Barry? 😎
gloBULL warming policies will do it every time:

UK Times: “Households will experience the biggest fall in their living standards since records began as they face soaring inflation, tax increases and rising energy bills.”
“In a bleak assessment of the year ahead, the Bank of England warned people that take-home pay would fall by five times the amount it did during the financial crisis of 2008. It will be the worst hit to real incomes since comparable records began in 1990.”

Just like our "betters" not needed masks when they party, I know not to take global warming all that seriously when Obama and Pelosi buy beach houses and Al Gore seems to needs a coal fired electrical plant all to himself to provide electrical power for his huge house.
Obozo has one mansion on an Atlantic Ocean island, another mansion on a Pacific Ocean island.
I would play a video showing the Obozo clan frolicking on the beaches.
Now I want my big fat fee!
