Abortion bill clears committee after activists derail meeting (Florida)

A House committee advanced a bill Thursday that would ban abortions in Florida after 15 weeks, despite Democratic lawmakers decrying the measure and activists interrupting the meeting with chants and shouts.

Lawmakers listened to more than an hour of public testimony on the proposal (HB 5), underscoring the bill’s contentious nature and the nation’s ongoing divisions over abortion rights.

But when Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee Chair Bryan Avila cut public testimony short, he struck a nerve among a handful of activists occupying the room.

“Let us speak,” they chanted as security personnel escorted a speaker outside of the room.

Security later cleared everyone from the room, prompting many attendees to huddle around a nearby television. Press and staff rejoined the meeting moments afterward.

By design, the proposal would test the limits of Roe v. Wade. It is similar in nature to a Mississippi law currently under the review of the U.S. Supreme Court. A judgment is expected in June.

Were these protesters arrested for “parading” and “disorderly conduct” and interfering with an official government proceeding? Will they be held in solitary confinement in a filthy jail cell for eight months while awaiting trial?

Edited for consistent accuracy.

What is the point of abortion after 15 weeks...? Oh, that’s right: So people can get that all-important genetic testing on their 15-week fetus and see if it’s “unfit” to live, i.e., has a birth defect. After one last set of tests a couple of weeks later, they’re ready to perform that 22-week abortion on a baby that will be born with Down syndrome, but otherwise in a viable condition! (And then whoever collects the dead baby parts gets to cash in! Because Down syndrome aborted fetuses usually have healthy heart, kidneys, lungs, etc. Ka-ching!)

Otherwise you would think the pro-abortion folks would be happy, right? Who’s going to start wondering if she’s pregnant after 15 weeks? (Right? But then again, everybody who doesn’t feel ready for a kid yet is using birth control, right....? And there are morning after pills. So there’s no such thing as an unplanned pregnancy, haha, so why are they so unhappy?)

It’s all about the dolla bills.

I suspect most right to life people, after almost 50 years, no longer listen to the shrill, screaming ditzes that promote infanticide.

I’m referencing the DOJ and the FBI.

They label us terrorists at the drop of a hat.

Seems like they could break out some equal justice at one
point just to do a head fake for the terminally slow.

That's a slight improvement over the trimester rule but not good enough still.

The test should be that abortions are legal as long as the DNA of the mother matches the DNA of the fetus, thus proving that the tissues are from the same person.
