Ohio Supreme Court strikes down new Republican-drawn congressional map as illegal gerrymander

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- For the second time this week, the Ohio Supreme Court has thrown out a Republican-drawn political map as an illegal gerrymander.

In a 4-3 decision on Friday, the Ohio Supreme Court ordered state lawmakers to draw a new congressional map, saying the one signed by Gov. Mike DeWine in November violates the state’s new anti-gerrymandering rules, approved by voters in 2018. Justices sided with voting-rights groups and a group led by former U.S. attorney general Eric Holder who had sued, saying the map disproportionately favored Republicans while “unduly” splitting three Democratic counties -- Hamilton, Summit and Cuyahoga -- into multiple districts.

It is as usual. When Democrats can't win at the ballot box, they sue.

There is an easy way to get your way in redistricting: Win some statewide races. The Democrat Party has ONE state wide elected official, Senator Sherrod Brown a hold over Dem machine politician who hasn't had a decent well funded Republican in the last two election cycles.

The Republican party regularly garners upwards of 60% of the statewide vote totals in statewide elections. Trump won by almost 10 points in the last POTUS cycle.

The state of Ohio is a Republican State.

We just have to get the stupid party to eliminate the sate income tax & watch the local economy go from good to "Holy Crap"!

Keeping in mind State boundaries and historical communities all such maps should be drawn to enclose the correct amount of “persons” (no other demographic used) within the shortest possible average length of local district boundary lines … producing lumpish districts, but ending all forms of gerrymandering.

Maps could be derived from a computerized iterative process between borders in and Capitol out approaches.

“...voting-rights groups led by Heinrich Himmler Holder...”

Notice how the press couches this communist front as a “voting-rights” group.

The Pennsylvania filthy, corrupt court also overturned a legally drawn congressional map by Republicans and unilateraly created another one that favored democrats.

I see a pattern here. One that will soon be corrected. Soon.

The Ohio Supreme Court (like the rest of Ohio) is dominated by Kasich/DeWine/Boehner type, Chamber of Commerce RINOs.

DeWine and his stooges in the Ohio legislature originally floated a map that would eliminate Jim Jordan's district.

Rank and file Republicans were furious and demanded that they change the map.

It is VERY convenient that the OSC ruled the way they did. I can GUARANTEE you that the next map they come up with will eliminate Jordan's district. They will say, "There was nothing we could do. Those dirty Democrats outsmarted us and made us eliminate his district."

But make no mistake about it. The Ohio Republicans wanted him gone.

If per Marshall in Marbury it is worse than a solemn mockery to make justices take their oath of office to uphold the Constitution and then require them to turn a blind eye to the Constitution and only see statutes then what is it to make other take the same oath and then require them to turn their eyes away from the Constitution and only see the opinions of the court?

Ohio is corrupt. Jennifer Brunner came in with Soros “Secretary of State project” I wondered where she’d resurface….elected to the Supreme Court of Ohio of course! Oooh looks like we somehow elected the Governor’s relative also! Silly Ohioans! I don’t know ANYONE who voted for either of these two, yet there they are. Until we fix the corruption that got these people in, you won’t fix anything.

Ain’t happening.
Ohio is in the top ten of population loss in the nation. Cleveland lost the most thereby they should lose a D seat. This isn’t rocket science.

But of course Gerrymandering in Dem states never gets challenged or overturned. Only in Republican states.

His absence would be very temporary. It isn’t too late to run for Portman’s seat. And he would win.

This has been the plan since 2016, Holder’s group sues any and every district map while Elias sues to have every election rule changed!
