North Carolina voters file suit to disqualify Cawthorn from running for reelection

A group of 11 North Carolina voters filed a legal challenge to disqualify Rep. Madison Cawthorn from running for a second term, arguing his involvement in a rally preceding the Jan. 6, 2021, riot on Capitol Hill constitutionally bars him from waging another campaign.

Lawyers for the 11 voters filed the suit to the State Board of Elections, contending that Cawthorn’s comments in the speech shortly preceding the insurrection violate the 14th Amendment, which states in part that no person “who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress ... to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same.”

14th Amendment
Section 3
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
I thought they’d pull this after the primaries and closer to the 2022 Elections

Yes? He still hasn’t been found guilty of any of those. A civil suit doesn’t matter. Unless the guy is charged and found guilty he is still eligible.

Really? They are all going to be charged and tried? That’s what it would take.

So by that logic, any Democrat politician who participated in the BLM/Antifa riots of summer 2020 is also disqualified, right? Including those who ran bail rackets for the rioters?

If all it takes is participation in a rally, then I think we can disqualify every Democrat who has publicly supported the invasion of our southern border. And that’s every single one of them.

Frankly, it is not worth arresting and charging “anybody” who was on Capitol Hill Jan 6, nor (really) anybody already arrested for going into the Capitol on that day. They’ve already been arrested, and many have been already been kept in solitary confinement since being arrested.

Rather, this charge will be reserved for ANY Congressman or Senator who talks about the Jan 6 arrests, the Jan 6 protests, the Jan 6 investigations “improperly” or “irreverently” .. Since THEY will be “supporting insurrection” henceforth.

You have a lot more confidence in the court than I do. Roberts does the bidding of his masters.

The governor of North Carolina was the AG when the hooker falsely accused the Duke lacrosse players of raping her. Governor Cooper refused to prosecute her. She went on to do more damage. I think she killed one of her boyfriends. The blood is on Cooper's hands for that and other things. Oh yes, he allowed Silent Sam to be removed from campus.

Because they are the propaganda arm of the Democratic Party.

No pretense of objectivity anymore.

Nobody has been charged with insurrection, treason or sedition. How will they sue on the basis of “insurrection”… lol If no one is guilty or even charged with it? Didn’t think this through to well.

Claiming to be fighting a battle for our Constitution

So, they want to use the Constitution to disqualify him for fighting FOR the Constitution. Only Democrats ...

I’m not clear about what this is. The article states: “Lawyers for the 11 voters filed the suit to the State Board of Elections, . . .” The State Board of Elections is not a court so it does not hear a “suit”. The State Board of Elections can hear a complaint or proposal, but not a lawsuit.

Interesting no mention of federal or state court in the article. If this is merely a complaint to the Board of Elections it is a publicity stunt.

So it’s “The insurrection™️“ now? Are you freaking kidding me? Nothing but a bunch of sick people that cannot wait to be put into cattle cars after all of their political enemies get put into cattle cars first…

“...where a year later not a single person has been charged with insurrection.”

Yet, 500-600 are caged without access to legal representation, and denied many other Constitutional rights! IMHO, each will be in store for a HUGE payout! I venture, a minimum of $5M each, once the dust settles!!!
