U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland says the Department of Justice could charge people who were not physically present at the Capitol on January 6. Garland spoke the day before before the White House and Congress are set to mark the first anniversary of the attack. They’re planning to charge congress people who supported challenging the vote, which was their Constitutional right and duty.
Before it happened, I thought to myself “Should I go?”
After it was over I thought “maybe I should have been there.”
Then I thought, “nah, it’s better I wasn’t there.”
Will my first pre-crime thought land me in the slammer? If not, will my second thought do the trick? Or does my last thought completely absolve me?
Pre-crime thoughts and thought-crime can be so complicated. I hope SCOTUS addresses this soon to clear up the ambiguity. Or maybe the Politburo can give us guidance on these matters
