A majority of Americans condemn the Jan. 6 riot and believe that former President Trump bears at least some responsibility for that violent attack on the Capitol.
An ABC News-Ipsos poll found that 72 percent of Americans said the people involved in the riot were mostly threatening democracy, while 25 percent said they were mostly protecting democracy.
The poll also found that 58 percent of people surveyed said Trump bore a great deal or good amount of responsibility for the Capitol riot, while 41 percent who said he bore no or just some responsibility.
A majority of Americans also said they believed that Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential election victory was legitimate, with 65 percent of Americans agreeing. Still, one third — 33 percent — said they think Biden’s victory was not legitimate nearly one year after he was inaugurated.
The top-line findings started to diverge along partisan lines, ABC reported. For example, 45 percent of Republicans believed that the people involved in the attack on the Capitol were threatening democracy, while 52 percent felt they were protecting democracy.
In comparison, 96 percent of Democrats believed those involved in the attack were threatening democracy, ABC reported.
The new poll comes just before the one-year anniversary of the riot in which Trump supporters ransacked the Capitol to contest the election and tried to stop Congress from certifying Biden's victory.

I can agree with the headline, and will vote for Trump.
Having organized the massive protest on that day, he bears some responsibility. And I don’t support those who went in the Capitol.
I hold Biden and his corrupt party responsible for far worse.
You didn’t already know that.
what do you expect from The Swill and the Media-Dem Party polls?
If the poll means anything it means that propaganda works.
We have the right to redress our grievances with our guvmint. It wasn’t nearly, not even 1/10th as violent as the BLM protests the prior summer which burned down buildings and killed people.
Trump bears some of the responsibility, yes, because he invited his supporters to engage in peacably demonstrating and that’s what they did. Trump should also have responsibly issued pardons to anyone who wasn’t charged with weapons violations or insurrection, which was the vast, vast majority of those arrested. Trump didn’t do it. But he should have.
Why so much from The Hill? It is as authoritative as WA PO or the DU.
And if the truth were broadcast by the enemedia — the same truth Tucker reported — a majority would blame the FBI.
Instead of asking a randomly selected bunch of people what they think about an event such as the one on January 6 of last year, let's winnow it down a little and then get to the chase.
That would consist of maybe three questions to start with, such as:
Continue with the interview only if the subject answers in the affirmative to Question 1 and "no" to questions 2 and 3.
Otherwise, this fake poll is no more valid than one asking which brand of tooth paste is best.
You could post from Pravda and it would be much more accurate.
B.S.
The Hill. 🙄
Will the networks that day regale us with footage of the deadly insurrection?
They are trying to stop any momentum from the Virginia and New Jersey elections from forming by driving a wedge between independents and President Trump.
They want to toxify Trump so he becomes ineffective as an influencer in 2022.
It won't work.

DITTO.
My neighbor went to the Washington on January 6th and left early because there were druggie weirdos starting to make trouble.
Two words: Ray Epps
Of course it wont work
Pathetic isn’t it
Did you poll gay Starbucks workers in Portland?
And desperate people do desperate things.
This is just the beginning.

If it comes from “The Hill”, its bullshit!
