Sen. Ted Cruz, in an interview, said he is particularly well-positioned to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, referencing his second-place finish behind Donald Trump in the party's 2016 primary.
Cruz, R-Texas, was talking to The Truth Gazette, a conservative news service operated by 15-year-old Brilyn Hollyhand. Asked by Hollyhand whether he would consider running again for the White House, Cruz responded, "Absolutely. In a heartbeat."
"You know, I ran in 2016. It was the most fun I've ever had in my life. We had a very crowded field. We had 17 candidates in the race — a very strong field. And I ended up placing second," Cruz said.
"There's a reason historically that the runner-up is almost always the next nominee. And that's been true going back to Nixon or Reagan or McCain or Romney that has played out repeatedly. You come in with just an enormous base of support."
Cruz obtained the second-most delegates at the Republican Party’s 2016 convention in Cleveland, where a contingent of his supporters attempted to derail Trump's nomination and disrupted the proceedings, Politico reported. Cruz failed to endorse Trump, but said Republicans should vote their conscience.

Since that rule has already been broken by Obama & Harris-—I don’t see it ever being applied again.

Sad thing is that I'm not sure there is anyone waiting in the wings who can pull off a MAGA v2.0.If MAGA is solely dependent on Donald Trump to succeed, it will fail as a political movement. There must be others to carry the torch, and there will be.

I just don’t know if Cruz can win a national election I'm with you on that. I really appreciate much of what Ted Cruz has done and by running he will keep the primaries interesting, if not "honest", but I just don't think he has the leadership "aura" or charisma to prevail (I mean, after all, Cruz would need to get at least 100,000,000 votes to even stand a chance agains the Democrat/Communist/Left Party's demonstrated election fraud expertise, y'know!)

Ha, ha, ha… breathe… ha, ha, ha… yer killin’ me.
Lyin’ Ted Cruz, perhaps the most inauthentic intentional stutterer in politics, thinks he’s going to be the Republican presidential nominee in 2024 because he was the runner up in 2016. No, seriously, he does.

The more Trump pimps the vaccine, the lower in the list he gets. He’s either ill informed or his ego is too big to admit the jabs are junk.

Do you think it SHOULD have been applied? It is, after all, right there in the constitution. If we toss straightforward sections of the constitution just because it’s politically inconvenient, it is exactly as I have been saying: We lost our constitutional republic in 2009.

BushI had no heir apparent, which threw the GOP into a tailspin. If Trump wins he needs to set up his vp as the heir apparent to the movement. There’s really only 2 populist conservatives out there: DeSantis and Palin.

That was the biggest constitutional crisis in my lifetime, but around here on this supposedly constitutionalist website it was treated as ‘entertaining’.

Then along came Ted Cruz and as far as I can tell, those who opposed Cruz on such constitutionalist grounds were zotted. Hopefully, things have changed on FR.

You are absolutely correct. Anyone starting to see a pattern here? I believe one of the goals of those that wish to destroy America, is to get rid of the natural born clause. We would do well to keep it.

I hear ya…
I see people talking about him being a good SCOTUS pick, but I don’t see that as
being true.
When there were protesters outside Trump events, he blamed Trump for them.
His judgement is highly suspect in my mind, for a number of reasons.
At one time I favored him for VP, then POTUS, then SCOTUS.
Today I favor him running for the exit.

Agree, blaming Trump was blaming his base for the attacks...I cannot forgive that, and Trump NEVER attacked the base.

Yes the natural born clause has been trampled in my lifetime, no doubt about it. And had Trump not came along REPUBLICANS would have drove the final. Ail in the coffin.
But like all that the founders gave us, it is sturdy and hard to kill. The founders were amazing in their foresight. Like I said, we would do well to keep the NBC.
I lay it out this way. Would the founders have allowed the son of King George, mothered by an American woman, be president? Of course not. It is EXACTLY what the clause was meant to stop!

I soured on Cruz after he teamed up with Glen Beck. Beck’s going around and saying that Trump voters were Nazis and brownshirts was the final straw. BTW, has Beck ever apologized for that?
