On Friday’s broadcast of Bloomberg TV’s “Wall Street Week,” Steve Rattner, who served as counselor to the Treasury Secretary in the Obama administration, said that it will “take multiple years” to work inflation out of the economy, and “it is going to be painful. And it’s going to be painful for growth. It’s going to be painful for jobs.”

So standby for more suck?
That’s the case only if one’s options are as seen by the Obama Left.
The communists/liberals said the same thing until Trump got into office and the economy skyrocketed.
Exactly. I seem to remember something from Barky about President Trump waving a magic wand.
Open the economy dufus!
The Left causes inflation and then tells you it will hurt to fix ,LOL
Everything the leftists do has to be painful for everyone else. Because they are preventing everyone from simply doing what makes sense.
Things like making oil price skyrocket because they’ve decided oil is evil. And all the artificial wage inflation forced on business without any increase in productivity.
And gee folks sorry but all you poor people will just have to feel some pain.
We need to slam the brakes and have the federal reserve hike up the interest rates. Oh and fail to pass BBB bill. Our economy would go into recession for the next year or two before resuming positive growth. The problem is that there’s no political will to do this.
We didn’t have an inflation problem when Trump took office. Trump or any conservatives fiscal policies would be great for the economy. But inflation isn’t an overnight fix for anybody.
“We need to slam the brakes and have the federal reserve hike up the interest rates.”
No, they will wait until January, 2025 to do that.
Whomever the Republican president will be in 2025, they will be inheriting a mess. Of course, this is what most Republicans inherit after a period of Dem leadership these days.
This is why there is no credible Republican opposition in many blue states. The problems are entrenched and basically insurmountable without incredibly harsh and unpopular medicine.
Yep. That'll what I would figure. The Republican President will have no choice but to do that. Then the Democrats will blame the GOP for the recession. And take the White House in 2029.
Never had this inflation or any other catastrophe under Trump. We even exported oil, now JB is begging the Saudi’s for oil. Again under (D)’s
Reagan fixed inflation in just a couple of years.
Trump could fix it in 1-2 weeks.
Was RATtner grinning in glee when he said this?
Agreed. Barry said high unemployment and no manufacturing in the US was the new normal and could not be reversed, but then Trump was elected and proved them all to liars, cheats, thieves and traitorous globalists.
“Yep. That’ll what I would figure. The Republican President will have no choice but to do that. Then the Democrats will blame the GOP for the recession. And take the White House in 2029.”
That’s the playbook!
Open the oil and gas taps and most of the inflation goes away.
