McConnell also reiterated his belief that the government wouldn't end up closing its doors. "We're not going to shut the government down," he said. "That makes no sense for anyone. Almost no one on either side thinks it's a good idea."

McConnell couldn’t “smack down” a mouse.
The Turd has a habit of depressing the GOP base.
‘We The People’ think it’s a good idea! Shut. It. Down!
But, you jerks never listen to us...
Kick the can Mitch. Kick my children while you are at it.
Anyone who did not see this coming is an idiot and a fool. I still cannot believe that people actually said Mitch was postponing the fight to just before Christmas when he would be in a stronger position.
Can anyone point to some benefit we achieved for this?
This is a taste of what’s to come when the GOP takes back the senate. It will be a victory for them but not for us.
It’s so obvious - he’s talking calls from Biden and pushing thru Biden’s agenda.
Biden spent 46 years or something in DC, he knows they have to cease before mid-terms and make some grimacing faces and say unpleasant things before Mid term season.
This is Boehner working with Obama and despising his base. Boehner has now admitted to it, and said how he loathes Trump.
If the GOP can’t get rid of him, why vote for them?
One trillion dollar debt ceiling increase every December for the next 20 years.
“Almost no one on either side thinks it’s a good idea.”
Can anyone name a Republican or 10 who are fighting for a shutdown?
China Mitch looking out for China Joe.
“Almost no one...” means “nobody with any seniority around here.”
A mouse is fierce compared to your average GOP senator.
They are fierce when it comes to opposing conservatives.
Can McCon-man be removed from his Seat, tried for gross incompetence, and just tossed off the Planet?
Shut down Mitch the post turtle.
They are kicking your great-grandchildren by now. People who don’t have kids are spending money that other people’s grandkids haven’t even earned yet.
Yes, by vote of the Senate.
Guess what, not happening. McConnell isn’t really the problem, most of the Republican party is the problem. If Mitch didn’t have their support he couldn’t do Doodley Squat.
I remember that. Folks here opined that if that happened, they’d label McConnell as “The Mitch Who Stole Christmas.”
