Dutch health authorities on Sunday confirmed that 13 airplane passengers returning from South Africa to the Netherlands had tested positive for the omicron COVID-19 variant.
As the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) said in a press release, 624 passengers returning from South Africa were tested for COVID-19 on Nov. 26 at the Schiphol Airport. Of these passengers, 61 tested positive for the coronavirus and 13 were found to have contracted the omicron variant.

Watch this omicron variant carefully. So far it appears to be highly communicable however it does not appear to cause serious illness. If so then those infected may very well have immunity to the more virulent strains of COVID-19. That is how pandemics end. The virus mutates into a much less virulent but very communicable variant. As it goes through the population hardly noticed, natural immunity develops and the more virulent forms die out due to lack of hosts.

What I’ve been saying but more eloquently stated.
Genomic sequencing is required to identify delta, or alpha or the other virus variants that had few mutations.
But it turns out the standard PCR test CAN identify Omicron, likely because the sheer number of mutations become detected during the PCR cycles.

To me, the really tragic thing is that there have even been some of these on FR.
How come they could not or would not positively delta, but the new variant that is a week old can be positively identified in patients. FRAUD!
Rearrange Omicron to M.o.r.o.n.i.c.
It’s the variant for anyone stupid enough to believe in it.
The standard covid PCR tests look for three specific genes. Regular covid and the delta variant will trigger all three genes in the PCR panel. This new variant does not trigger the S gene panel of the PCR test but does trigger the other two. Thus if the PCR comes back positive for two of three with the S gene panel being negative then it is the new Omi variant. That’s how far removed from the original strain this new one is with 30+ mutations what remains to be seen is the overall mortality rate for healthy people vs comorbidities and also it’s R0 replication rate. If this is a high R0 but low mortality than the pandemic will blaze hard and fast while the herd gets immunity from exposure but the over all deaths would be low in that case. The worse case is the variant has a high mortality rate for healthy and or comobidities and a high R0 rate in that case millions would die fairly quickly. So far it seems it’s highly transmissible but the mortality rate is not higher than regular Rona

Think about that. Passengers were required to be vaccinated, or if unvaccinated have a negative covid test. Obviously the passengers with covid were the vaccinated ones who didn’t test, but many people think the unvaccinated are much less safe to be around than the vaccinated, and the vaccinated need to test. So this in reality has become just as much, maybe more so, a pandemic of the vaccinated. The vaccinated were the ones spreading it from South Africa to Denmark.
