Rupert Murdoch urged former President Donald Trump to focus on the issues facing Americans today and in the future, rather than on relitigating the 2020 election.
“The current American political debate is profound, whether about education or welfare or economic opportunity,” Murdoch, executive chairman of News Corp., said on Wednesday during the company’s annual meeting of stockholders.
“It is crucial that conservatives play an active, forceful role in that debate, but that will not happen if President Trump stays focused on the past.”
Ever since President Biden’s victory, Trump has insisted that the election was “rigged” and that he really won. The claim culminated in the Jan. 6 insurrection, when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol to try to stop Biden’s certification as president.

Does Rupert Murdoch know that we have no country without voter integrity?
Our country was hijacked by a vast left wing conspiracy armed with hundreds of millions of dollars. You have to be blind not to see the irregularities and corruption in a handful of counties in the swing states. Why does Murdoch want to ignore this?
Our country is under the grip of communists who stole the election and who are successfully tearing us apart, with insane spending, open borders, inflation, hoaxes, and new social programs that may be impossible to undo, and will bankrupt our country.
The Democrat communists are using government agencies to attack their political enemies, to imprison and punish ordinary citizens, to put Americans last and the USA last.
Rupert Murdoch should take a time out and reconsider his lack of focus and understanding of where this country is headed. Rupert is not alone with his blind eye.
He is being helped by very stupid Republicans who actually saved Biden's regime by voting for his "infrastructure program." Yes the RINOs each got his or her 30 pieces of silver.
Translation: “If you keep focusing on 2020, stuff may turn up that will make me and the GOPe look even more like political whores subservient to the Democrats than we already do.”
Trump lost his presidency because he refused to fight, to draw the blood of his enemies. He could not deal and would not fight and he lost
Murdoch is right. The future is what matters. If elected Trump can go after his enemies but he won’t because he fears a fight and the sight of the blood that must be drawn
Mr. Murdoch hopes the collective memory will wane on Fox news and their contributions to the 2020 election theft, with the premature calling of AZ.
Mr. Murdoch, we saw what Fox News, you, and your ilk did.
We saw the whole of media shrug well into the evening while Donald Trump was leading in EVERY state by hundreds of thousands of votes. We watched as we were told all of media was signing off for the evening while president Donald John Trump had a commanding lead in every remaining state.
Go to bed they said, the counting will continue tomorrow for AZ, GA, PA, WI and MI. No results tonight they said. Fox News too.
We saw Ruby Freeman and her posse in Atlanta, “Gett’n it done” while pulling case after case after case of ballots from under tables, and scanning, re-scanning and scanning the same ballots over and over and over again. Has Fox News followed up on that?
We saw the the pizza box window coverings going up in Detroit as republicans were escorted from the vote counting areas, many forcibly, even those with court orders in their hand authorizing their presence. Has Fox News followed up on these anomalies?
We saw the Fauci-funded Chinese bio-weapon Covid-19 used to change our election laws, protocols, and processes. Moving election observers back to the point of uselessness. This was not discussed much on Fox News.
We saw the armada of vehicles filled to the brim with ballots being delivered well past statutory cutoffs. Not on Fox News though.
We saw thousand and thousand of affidavits files under penalty of perjury for election fraud observed. Most were ignored, particularly by Fox News.
We heard the testimony of hundreds of appalled election workers who saw the theft occurring in real time, and told of the coercion and changes to their process by Zuckerberg-funded donations and groups. Has Fox News done any hard hitting expose’ on Mark Zuckerberg’s election activities? Meh.
We see the slimy hand prints of Mark Zuckerberg and his election boxes in blue-only election zones in Atlanta and his operations in Madison and Green Bay, to the tune of $450,000,000. Hello, Fox News? Fox News!
We see the tens of thousands of “mail-in” ballots arriving all pre-filled and processed with no folds evident. Not on Fox News.
We saw the Dominion machine errors where ballots scanned in overwhelmingly republican districts would tally the results in the Democrat’s favor, where only subsequent hand recounts verified and confirmed the actual winner. Was that on Fox News?
We see election officials in Colorado who come forward and tell of their SOS deleting ballot images from machines in violation of law, who are then targeted by the FBI and DOJ, and have their homes raided by paramilitary thugs with warrants who remove all of their electronic devices. Maybe Tucker at Fox News could interview these people?
We watched court after court shrug as case after case after case was presented, with scant few judges with the courage to allow the facts to be presented. Fox News did use the court’s reluctance to hear cases as an indication all was well.
No Mr. Murdoch, I have no use for you, your thoughts, or your Fox News spin on what Donald John Trump or we the people who witnessed the stolen election of 2020 ought to be focused on.
You are as useless as Fox News.
‘F*** Trump’: Rupert Murdoch personally made pivotal election night decision for Fox News to call Arizona early for Biden, claims Michael Wolff in his new book
Dominion smiles.
Rupert Murdoch knows he’s got dirty hands in the stolen election of 2020.
Without regard to Murdoch, if Trump wants to win the next election he needs avoid vote-losing subjects.
My thoughts exactly. Trump won the Electoral College, but lost the popular vote in 2016. He was and still is immensely popular here on FR, but FR is not the totality of registered American voters. Trump did nothing to win over the fence-sitters in the middle and a heck of a lot to alienate them. Telling grieving families their loved ones died of a hoax didn't help.
Much as I hate to say it, Murdoch’s right. So many Eeyores on this site moan about the elections are all rigged (how did Youngkin win in Virginia, then?), so what’s the point of voting at all? I guarantee the Rat voters are not going to stay home and pout on Election Day. They will crawl over broken glass to vote themselves more welfare. If enough conservatives think the elections are rigged and stay home, the Rats will win and we will have a self-fulfilling prophecy on our hands.
Election fraud shouldn’t be the only issue, but why shouldn’t it be raised? What good is an election if there’s fraud?
I suspect your comment alludes to Murdoch's overall political philosophy but I would like to focus on Fox channel's postelection (no doubt top-down) gag of the stunning evidence of abnormalities, illegalities and flat out fraud in the 2020 election.
One need only recall the unceremonious sacking of Lou Dobbs from Fox Business to witness the ruthlessness of the top down gag order.
Murdoch is wrong. The anomalies of the 2020 election have to be identified and cured or future elections will suffer the same taint and the Republic will lose legitimacy. No amount of Fox censorship or social media censorship can keep that Genie in the bottle. No, election reform is absolutely indispensable for a constitutional republic.
Second, party reform is equally indispensable and urgent. Before day-to-day issues are addressed, renegade senators and congressmen must be disciplined. Those who voted for the so-called infrastructure bill, for example, should the primaried or otherwise disciplined by depriving them of committee chairmanships and memberships. It is quite proper for Trump to address these defalcations by Rino Republicans as they might arise daily on an issue by issue basis but the overall need to restructure the Republican Party must take priority over issue hopping.
Murdoch didn’t get the memo Trump is focusing on the future of the country.
“Trump did nothing to win over the fence-sitters in the middle and a heck of a lot to alienate them.”
You’d think he’d realize that. Maybe he’ll soften up in his next campaign.
He’s a charming and convincing person when he wants to be.
In other words, “Don’t move the rock I’m hiding under for my part in corrupting the election.”
