A “Never Trump” Republican lawmaker said Sunday the former president would try to “steal” the 2024 election if he opts to make a run and loses.
Rep. Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio told CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump had only grown emboldened by the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
“I think any objective observer would come to this conclusion, that he has evaluated what went wrong on Jan. 6. Why is it that he wasn’t able to steal the election?” Mr. Gonzalez said. “Who stood in his way?”
Mr. Gonzalez accused Mr. Trump of moving to purge the GOP of dissenters as part of a calculated effort to ensure the next election could be stolen.
“He‘s going systematically through the country and trying to … install people who are going to do exactly what he wants them to do, who believe the big lie, who go along with anything he says,” Mr. Gonzalez said. “Every single American institution is just run by people. And you need the right people to make the right decision in the most difficult times.”

I think Gonzales is the son of a Cuban immigrant. One would have expected him to value Donald Trump’s approach to protecting and supporting this country before all others.

Well, yes, that’s my prayer, but it won’t be a steal the way the 2020 election was stolen. It will simply be the result of purging RINOs and crypto-democrats from the party.

The GOP needs to be cleansed and overhauled! The RINOS , such as that Gonzalez, are a perfect example of why it needs to happen. The RNC will never get one nickel from until McConnell and McCarthy are gone!
Trump doesn't have to steal the 2024 race. If he announces then there is no way he isn't going to be nominated.

The anti Trump factions in the GOP have many problems.
1) Most of them made their “deal with the devil” in 2016, when they left the party.
2) They spent so much time fighting Trump and trying to curry favor with the media & democrats, they forgot to field a viable candidate for 2024.
3) They are bereft of any ideas or vision for the country to move forward on.(See McConnell)
4) They lack courage in political battles, always folding and capitulating, never sticking together. These cowardly actions have lead to disenchantment among the base of the party.
5) The pro Trump base hates their guts, which is going to make it hard to win political office. Trying to win Congressional seats by pissing off Trump voters, is probably not the best tactic moving forward in 2022 & 2024.
