Guns, violence and political extremism are on the rise. And America risks disaster — sooner than later.
That’s the view of a longtime University of California firearms researcher whose hard-hitting report was published recently in the journal Injury Epidemiology.
“Upward trends in firearm purchasing, violence and political extremism are converging to put the USA at risk for disaster in the months ahead,” Garen Wintemute warned in introducing the report. “We have no time to waste if we are to prevent the loss of thousands of lives and emerge with our democracy intact.

Yes.
Anyone can be a researcher, but only few are really good at it. 🙂
1) The US is not now, nor has ever been a democracy. We are a constitutional republic. That is an important difference.
2) In a constitutional republic, the rights of the citizens are protected by the Constitution. The second amendment of that Constitution protects the right of the citizen to keep (own) and bear (carry) arms.
3) It is this very right that prohibits those that wish to impose tyranny from executing their plans.
4) What is critical to the success of this nation is that the election process be protected from corruption. Only legal citizens are permitted to vote and that is not "suppression". It is in fact, protecting the individual vote and the election as a whole.
5) It is those that are seeking to corrupt elections through illegal votes to further their political objectives and circumvent the election process that are the cause of the new politics.

Lies? Partly, the only thing I would take issue with is the suppressing of the vote claim which is nonsense.

“Gun grabber” does NOT begin with an “r.”
The problem is real. I take the firearms background check # as a sort of temperature reading of US social anxiety. So far as it that goes, the fellow isn’t wrong. This all is getting worse. The people are increasingly alienated from their government, their official institutions, and the upper class. What is wrong is :
a. He does not understand, or refuses to acknowledge, the reasons for this social anxiety, which is the alienation created by the social elite themselves. This is ALWAYS the root of revolution.
b. His solutions amount to suppression of expressions of this anxiety, which will only serve to increase and intensify it. He is inviting that “enhancement of the contradictions” that revolutionary strategists strive for.
He is right.
BLM taught that the ONLY way to get what you want is violence.
A lot of alphabet soup boys and girls are seeing signs that lesson was learned.
