At least eight people are dead after a crowd surge during the sold-out Astroworld music festival in Houston on Friday, the city's fire chief said.
Seventeen people were transported to the hospital after the crush, and 11 who were taken by ambulance were in cardiac arrest, Houston officials said. In all, more than 300 people were treated throughout the event Friday at an on-site field hospital.
Around 9:15 p.m. local time (10:15 p.m. ET) "the crowd began to compress toward the front of the stage," Fire Chief Samuel Peña said at a news conference early Saturday.
"That caused some panic, and it started causing some injuries, people began to fall out, become unconscious, and it created additional panic," the fire chief said.
Houston police Executive Assistant Chief Lt. Larry Satterwhite, who was near the front, said the situation developed quickly.
"It seems like it happened with just over the course of a few minutes —suddenly we had several people down on the ground experiencing some type of cardiac arrest or some type of medical episode," he said. "We immediately started doing CPR."
About 50,000 people were at the event at NRG Park, which was being put on by rapper and producer Travis Scott and kicked off Friday. The festival, which is in its third year, was expected to be a two-day event, but officials said that Saturday's lineup had been canceled.

But.... but... but.... I thought a 6’ distance was supposed to be maintained at all times.
NRG Park? Is that really the name?

Went to see Jamey Johnson at a small venue couple weeks ago. Hadn’t been to a concert in several years. People are azzholes plan and simple. Fat bxtch beside my wife in her 50s screamed and hollered every song, people in front of us in there 60s (which we are) talked the entire time and were on their phones.
Let’s go Brandon and FJB rang out but you don’t do that when the singer is talking about the next song.
I finally got up and stated in a very loud voice what a bunch of moronic F’n azzholes.
We moved to to an upper area where we stood to watch. People there talked non stop and didn’t even watch the performance.
We finally walked out totally disgusted.
Never again..
We stopped going to movies many years ago for the same reason.

How black people went from the Temptations, Marvin Gaye and the OJays to this crap is the main indicator of where they are culturally! Earth, Wind and Fire I guess is there to pull the token over 60 crowd I guess, because I can’t see anyone going to this would even be remotely interested in them.
Modern Day “Woodstock”
The dumbing-down of the black community, starting in schools. An example, Chester-Upland School District, Chester, PA. In the past, starting in 3rd grade, you could learn to play a musical instrument. Going up in the grades, you were exposed to the marching band, symphony orchestra, and concert band. You heard and was taught real music. You knew the different instruments and their sounds.
Chester High School, was known for two things, the band and the basketball team. Well, the School District decided years ago to stop the music program, but the basketball team support is still going strong.
This RAP CRAP, is the worst thing to happen. I won’t call it music, I call it NOISE. I feel sorry for the people hurt, but it did cull the herd.

Kind of makes one wonder if they were vaxxed and had some heart vulnerabilities.
Actually you can’t park that many standing people together without “pressure”...crowds like that have to be divided up. There was a guy that spoke about this today....says they should know better than having allowed this.
