While Biden administration dismisses the issue..
While the Biden administration has attempted to dismiss inflation and food supply issues, China is now urging its citizens to prepare for the winter by stockpiling food.
“A statement from China’s government urging local authorities to ensure there was adequate food supply during the winter and encouraging people to stock up on some essentials prompted concerned talk online, with people linking it with the widening coronavirus outbreak, a forecast cold snap, or even rising tensions with Taiwan,” reports Bloomberg.
“The Ministry of Commerce urged local authorities to stabilize prices and ensure supplies of daily necessities including vegetables this winter and next spring, according to a statement Monday evening. Chinese households were also encouraged to stock up on a certain amount of daily necessities in preparation for the winter months or emergencies.”
China’s urging for families to hoard food was prompted by massive problems with the global supply chain as a result of COVID in addition to extreme volatility in energy markets.
While the Biden administration has tried to downplay the prospect of food shortages, Butterball, one of the leading turkey producers in the U.S., warned that there could be a shortage of small turkeys this Thanksgiving.
Food shortages are also being seen at numerous schools across the U.S., while grocery shelves have been emptied of other essential items like toilet paper and diapers.
However, while Beijing is acting responsibly in telling its citizens to get prepared, the Biden administration is making light of the situation.
When the question of supply chain problems was raised during a recent White House press briefing, Jen Psaki mocked the issue.
“Biden’s recent executive order, which was supposedly about “supply chain resilience,” actually says it’s about tapping into (aka draining) our National Defense Stockpile in order to push prices down in the short-term,” writes Chris Menahan.
“I don’t know whether we’re going to face serious food shortages or not but I do know the Biden regime wouldn’t tell us one word if they thought it would hurt them in any way politically.”
So-called “doomsday preppers” have also been smeared as domestic extremists by establishment media outlets like the New York Times
My friend’s girlfriend in China says there are no shortages.
General question-Why does a thread get locked? Anybody know? I cannot find a link to ask a question of the moderators.
Makes one wonder what the heck the ChiComs are going to unleash in the world this winter.
Another, better, more genetically targeted virus?
Noam Chomsky: Lock vaccine skeptics ( who do not want forced experimental shots ) in their homes and deprive them of food..

Typically locked for being a duplicate, from a bad source, not excerpted, etc. Why, do you expect this one to be locked up? Why? (And I have not accessed the link, don’t recognize it)
Sand flies ?
“My friend’s girlfriend in China says there are no shortages”
Not yet. But once the government starts giving priority to the military upon invading Taiwan there will be.
How do you say “prepper” in Chinese?
Yeah, because the PLA will be on the move, and needs all the cargo space for food, ammo and petrol.
Let’s hope it will be moving in retreat rather than advance!
I’m in Upstate NY. Brrr...winter’s coming and have been stocking up for two months already.
Better order your sex dolls for Christmas now, before the factories get shut down, lol
Noam Chomsky, that great supporter of freedom for ivory-tower intellectuals everywhere.
Yeah that’s my take too. They expect a lot of incoming food from elsewhere to stop I would guess.
Interesting that China is pushing prepping, ping.
When they started with their lockdowns two years ago because of COVID, I could see the handwriting on the walls and did my own prepping. Thus I was not caught flatfooted that fateful March 13 when President Trump declared a two week shut down.
Watch what China does, because it’s going to spill over here, too.
They are telling people to stockpile in the event of shortages. That will cause some local ones when people panic buy.
Maybe it’s not where your friend’s friend lives. Yet.
I went shopping when I saw empty shelves in Italy. TP, a small freezer and food to fill it, dry foodstuff, canned food. Prepping mentality finally paid off after 15+ years.
Why do you ask?

(My Comment): Like it or not, we are all living in a globally connected economy which involves everything from food, grains, livestock, medications, machinery, to electronic chips.
One has to be alert to global changing conditions of economics, population immigration, disease outbreaks, fuel supplies, rising grain prices,
and a whole host of other concerns that our parents, much less our grandparents, never bothered or were concerned about because they didn't have access to that information.
The world today has become much more complicated due to globalism and a world economy and supply chain dependency.
Now add into the mix inflation, stagflation, and runaway prices for basic food and necessities and yoy can grasp the seriousness of the current situation.
Now,when China directs its population to build up food storage reserves even though they claim that there is no current shortage, should you be concerned ? Yup !
It means something is coming down the pipeline, be it famine, war, another communicable disease, civil unrest, etc., etc.
Take notice ! They don't do this normally !
Resupply now, before the rush,.. and before prices rise further and so you can do it economically.
"Normalcy Bias" is really a social disease of complacency, and resupply of "just-in-time"; but if it's not there, then what ? YOYO ! (You're On Your Own !)
As the Mormons say :" If ye are prepared,.. Ye shall not fear !"
