The U.S. Supreme Court is due to hand down a major ruling on American’s Second Amendment rights. The court recently announced it will hear a case soon, which could potentially increase the number of people able to carry a gun in public.
According to gun rights advocates, a favorable ruling by the Supreme Court would make it harder for Democrat-led cities to deprive citizens of the right to carry guns in public.
“We feel that the suit is: One, to bring equal justice and equal protection to the people, the gun owners in New York state,” explained Tom King, President of the New York State Rifle & Pistol Association (NYSRPA). “Two, to show that the Second Amendment applies outside the home and doesn’t stop at your doorstep. And thirdly, to bring us in line with approximately 40 other states that have ‘shall issue’ permits or constitutional carry.”
The case was brought up by a New York guns rights group against their governments’ century old law restricting citizens’ ability to concealed carry. Guns rights activist say New York guns laws are already some of the strictest in the country and there needs to be a pull-back.
“The people that that are getting permits are totally vetted,” King continued. “When you get a permit in New York, you have to have three or four personal references. You know, you go through a complete background check. You know, criminals are the ones that are causing the crimes in the cities, not legal gun owners, not lawful people.”
Gun rights advocates are optimistic the conservative majority court will elect to secure American’s Second Amendment rights.
“If they decide it a little more broadly and also change the level of scrutiny that the Second Amendment is usually judged under, making it a strict scrutiny rather than intermediate scrutiny, this could affect all of the states in the United States that don’t have ‘shall issue,'” said King. “And I think that it could be a game changer for everyone, that way if the court decides and takes a long view of this.”
Currently we have two, maybe three, justices who recognize the Second Amendment?

Not really. Dems don't give a damn about court rulings. They will do whatever they want in their blue enclaves. Who is going to stop them?
Ha!! Roberts holding that plaintiffs lack standing in 3, 2, 1. . .
Trump ran on appointing conservative justices. He did as Mitch and the GOPe wanted. To date, his appointments suck. If theirs is conservative philosophy, give me American populism.
good bye guns
I don’t count on it. SCOTUS has gone full Communist and decided our person belongs to the new government. We no longer belong to ourselves let alone have a Constitutional right to protect our own person. Example... The forced jab against religious beliefs. If they will not uphold the 1st why should they care at all about the 2nd?
Stopped reading at “conservative majority court”. Alito and Thomas are not a majority. We might get Gorsuch, but Barrett will never allow millions of gun owners to conceal carry, and Kavanaugh will go along with the closet liberal Roberts. The other three march lockstep with the left.
I cannot imagine how we’ll ever get a real conservative majority of patriot justices who uphold the Constitution.
Roberts, closely followed by ACB and Brett. Three penquins, all in a row.
We’ve all seen how the left just ignores the Supreme Court. If we don’t do the same then we are the morons, not them.
I don’t know of any true conservatives that were not pleased with Trump’s selection for the court at the time.
Something weird seems to happen when most conservatives are approved for the court. Same thing happens when they are elected to Congress.
Sadly...it never seems that a justice put forward by the Dems ever moves to the Conservative side...and equally rare in Congress.
Just a sad fact of life.
The right to defend yourself, your loved ones and your property is natural. It predates government itself.
—— their governments’ century old law——
Does not the law date back earlier ?say the 1870’s or 80’s?
In the late 70’s of 80’s even Dodge City, Abilene and maybe tombstone had laws against car their governments’ century old law ruing guns
Virgil Cole didn’t allow guns on the streets of Appaloosa
This courts actions so far, make me skeptical that this law suit will end well for supporters of the 2cnd amendment.
Should be, but not anymore. They have deemed that our person and property are now public property in common. With the government as referees who never throw a flag for a bad play.
That ship sailed long ago.
The Supreme Court is going to hear oral arguments on 3 November.
Standing was decided when they agreed to take the case.
Doubtful, I’m not sure if any of them even own a gun. Low expectations.
At one point in their decision they referred to the state's court's reasoning in upholding her conviction (on a weapons charge) as "frivolous". I think that that's legalese for "in your face".
