As the conversation continues regarding vaccinating kids aged 5-11 with the Pfizer vaccine, the FDA reviewed data and voted to endorse authorizing the vaccine, deciding its benefits outweigh recent concerns about rare heart-related side effects.
The rare side effect, known as myocarditis, is an inflammation of the heart that is seen in a small percentage of adolescent boys and young men taking mRNA vaccines like the Moderna or Pfizer.
Dr. John Goldman from UPMC says it typically resolves without major complications, but it’s the FDA’s job to leave no stone unturned when it comes to vaccine side effects.
“It would obviously be a concern if you start giving it to younger children who could also have myocarditis – so you want to make sure that the risks of the vaccine, didn’t outweigh the benefits," he said.
In yesterday’s meeting, the FDA said more than six million American children contracted Covid-19, but in making their emergency use authorization recommendation, the group of experts determined that the benefits outweigh the risks.

“DA says risk of rare vaccine side effect, myocarditis, is low”
Imagine if the risk of *rare* side effects were high.
So is the risk of dying of covid, if you’re not eldery or infrim.
Seeing the word “rare” in a headline these days is unexpected.

Gotta fix the headline.
We talkin' 'bout five or six percentage points?
Regards,
Chance of wrecking a kid's heart is ??
Risk from contracting and getting sick from Covid is likely even less.
6 million kids have natural immunity..none of the vaccines provide immunity.
If its ‘rare’, why are there so damn many of them?...................
The risk of serious effects from Covid is also low.
Doesn’t matter; it happens. Other meds have been pull for fewer reasons.
Define “Rare” and compare it with death or infection from covid for this age group or any other.
If you can’t do that then bugger off.
It doesn’t matter how rare it might be, the salient point here is that the risk exists while the risk of death (or even symptoms) in this age group is close to zero. There’s absolutely no justification for this, especially since this ‘vaxx’ doesn’t stop transmission anyway.
If it is so rare, then why not offer compensation for those “rare” occurrences?
And then for the headline.. risks of “rare” side affects is low. What about the risk of more common side affects?
Which is more rare for 5 to 11 year olds: Dying of side effects of the vaccine, or dying from complications of COVID?
The risk of dying from Covid is even lower.
