The U.S. Supreme Court declined Tuesday to hear an emergency appeal of a vaccine requirement imposed on Maine health care workers, the latest defeat for opponents of vaccine mandates.

It was the first time the Supreme Court weighed in on a statewide vaccine mandate. It previously rejected challenges of vaccine requirements for New York City teachers and Indiana University staff and students.

Justice Stephen Breyer rejected the emergency appeal but left the door open to try again as the clock ticks on Maine’s mandate. The state will begin enforcing it Oct. 29.

The Maine vaccine requirement that was put in place by Democratic Gov. Janet Mills requires hospital workers and nursing home workers to get vaccinated or risk losing their jobs.

Did you think they would? If you did, you are in for a heart break. This [the jab] is political. Not medical. For any number of reasons. For one, but not the only one, it is given in a narcotic shooting gallery setting. Not a licensed medical Doctor's sanitary examination room. As stated before , this is political. Not medical, not scientific, not therapeutic, and not preventative, nor for immunization.

Maybe vax mandate by employer, but not by law.

But employers have over 100 employees are required by clueless Biden to vax. That would include (maybe) LL Bean and any shipyards, especially those with federal contracts.

It would have to be a justice other than Breyer.

The same law firm, Liberty Counsel, has filed in FL for 34 military and federal employees. Unfortunately, I don't see them prevailing either, but Thomas is their Circuit Justice if they get that far. I think the religious exemption has far more merit than claiming it's not approved. I think Thomas is the most likely Justice to support the religious exemption argument.

I certainly hope that nobody here is foolish enough to believe that any branch of the government (legislative, executive OR judicial) will save them.

“I certainly hope that nobody here is foolish enough to believe that any branch of the government (legislative, executive OR judicial) will save them.”

Survival depends mostly on the individual and his or her network of support.
