There’s a big change affecting America and its two closest neighbors.
The U.S. will reopen its land borders with Canada and Mexico next month, allowing nonessential travel for the first time in more than a year and a half.
As CBS2’s John Dias reports, in just a few weeks you can head on a train out of Penn Station to Canada once again.
Both Mexico and Canada have pressed the U.S. for months to ease restrictions, saying it has separated families and stopped leisure trips.
Wednesday, national leaders are readying land borders. Come next month, vehicle, rail and ferry travel between the U.S., Canada and Mexico will reopen to legal, nonessential travel – but these international visitors must be vaccinated.

Finally I get to simply go to my US postal address in Ogdensburg, NY while in the meantime, the hordes (many spreading the virus) ploughed into Texas and elsewhere.
As usual there is not clear guidance on children. I want to take my 8 year old non-vax daughter to Canada, what are the requirements for children.
Did you get vaxxed and tested specifically so you could travel?
I hope to go to Japan next year again, but if they require me to be vaxxed, then screw it.
Despite what Mayorkas says, the US/MEXICO border is not closed and hasn’t been since Trump was in office. So this “reopening” of the border means zero

Good news for us in Canada. My daughters really want to take a trip to New York. We were going to go to Disneyland but can’t afford paying $400 for 6 people.
So what? We live about 90 miles from Canada - would not be caught dead in that socialist pit run by the wacko, unscientific, tyrannical Trudeau. They can have it.
Why go to New York? That place is run by inmates from the insane asylum.
In time to get Snowbird money. Canadians can come across now in their cars. If they’d known that a few months ago they could’ve procured a lease on the beach for six months but now they will have a hard time finding a long-term rental.
I hate to tell you this, but going to ANY Disney park is going to set you back significantly WAY more than $400. Now, if you are talking about getting the Chinese flu 72 hr clearance ticket then well yea maybe but, then you have to pay it again coming back to your home country? This is nonsense pure and simple.
There is a lot of cross border retail business in many places.
In between Fort Erie/Niagara Falls, ONT and Buffalo/Niagara Falls, NY many people from Canada come across the border to buy gasoline, cigarettes, clothes and even food.
In Buffalo a lot of men go across to Canada to see exotic dancers in establishments in Fort Erie or Niagara Falls, ONT

In northern VT Jay Peak ski area is only about a 1 1/2 hour ride from Montreal. About 50% of Jay’s customers come from Canada. They had a really poor revenue year last ski season because no one could cross the border.
I am sure there hundreds of examples of things like this.
