UT-Battelle manages Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL)
UT-Battelle requires all their employees to submit their vaccination status as a condition of continued employment. This choice, to get vaccinated, is a private choice that should be made between an individual and their doctor. UT-Battelle did offer employees the option to submit for an exemption on medical or religious grounds; many employees chose to do this. UT-Battelle apparently approved all exemptions (religious or medical) and subsequently used these approved exemptions to identify employees that did not fit within their business decisions. These employees are being put on unpaid leave for an undefined length of time that gets reevaluated every 60-days.
By this standard, separate drinking fountains weren't really racial discrimination; they were "accommodation" for black community members. Seats in the back of the bus, and all the other so-called "Jim Crow" laws...? Why, they were totally legitimate "accommodation"! How could we have been so blind blind as to allow our society to be rooked out of such a noble body of Law!

Obviously a quote delivered in furtherance of some leftist agenda item; she’d NEVER deign to say such a thing about the rights of Americans generally.
It sounds to me like a statement of prinicpal, and principals are not context dependent.
It certainly ought to be a statement of principle, and from any Conservative mouth, it would be.
From Harris? From Hillary? From Pelosi, or Schumer?
None of these people would know Principle if it bit them.
All of them say whatever they must to advance the agenda.
Principle never enters into the formula.

The ranks of “vaccine” resisters is heavy with people holding advanced degrees. The management may have been forced into crippling the lab’s operations by stripping the lab of key personnel. Chou Xiden’s handlers would love that, of course,

One month after the Biden administration announced a draconian federal vaccine mandate that impacted an estimated 100 million Americans and led to mass firings of public servants, teachers, and medical workers, the federal regulation still has not been formally issued.
The Federalist reported . . in a post on Thursday that noted, “Joe Biden’s Vaccine Mandate Doesn’t Exist. It’s Just A Press Release”:
Biden’s so-called vaccine mandate doesn’t exist — at least, not yet. So far, all we have is his press conference. No such rule even claiming to be legally binding has been issued yet.
That’s why nearly two dozen Republican attorneys general who have publicly voiced their opposition to the clearly unconstitutional and illegal mandate haven’t yet filed suit against it, the Office of the Indiana Attorney General confirmed for me. There is no mandate to haul into court. And that may be part of the plan.
According to several sources, so far it appears no such mandate has been sent to the White House’s Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs yet for approval. The White House, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and the Department of Labor haven’t released any official guidance for the alleged mandate. There is no executive order. There’s nothing but press statements.
Despite what you may have been . . . led to believe by the media, . . . press statements have exactly zero legal authority.
“There is nothing there yet that gives employers any mandate,” Stephanie McFarland, spokeswoman for the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration, told The Federalist’s Joy Pullman on Oct. 6. “The president made an announcement on this asking OSHA to do it, but we’ve not yet seen anything come from it yet,”. When the state agency gets any further information, she said, they’ll review it.”

The OSHA rules don’t exist, but federal workers and contractors are required to follow the vaxx rules.
However, this company laying off those who sought exemptions should be ripe for a class action lawsuit.
In the real world, companies would wait for actual issuance of standards. I’m concerned at how these entities jump at the chance to please they overlords.
The Civil Rights Act says a’reasonable accommodation must be given. There is no way in hell unpaid leave is reasonable. The employers doing that will lose in court and have to pay back wages plus punitive penalties.
Battelle does good work but their business practices have always sucked. I know from a buyer’s perspective.
That’s what I understand....it’s the companies making this mandatory.....Bidens threatened mandate has not been issued just spoken.
The USA is not the only county in which cutting edge technology is being developed. Given the habits, values and practices of American management, it is probably one of the worst countries in the modern period.

Well... that’s just it: they’ve not actually fired anybody, but they’ve now got 140 people who are still TECHNICALLY employed, but can’t get any income UNLESS they cave, and take the jab. And then God knows how this little episode may be used against them in the future; they could still end up being railroaded out.
