New study confirms Sun/Cosmic-Ray climate connection
GWPF ^ | David Whitehouse Interviewing Professor Henrik Svensmark, one of the study's authors.

A new study published in Nature’s Scientific Reports by researchers at the Danish National Space Institute at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and The Hebrew University of Jerusalem suggests that the Sun’s activity in screening cosmic rays affects clouds and, ultimately, the Earth's energy budget with concomitant climatic effects. Science editor David Whitehouse interviews Professor Henrik Svensmark, one of the study's authors.

I agree and as I said I am not disagreeing in any way with the findings and have never myself been a believer in man made climate change or global warming.

Check out spaceweather.com:

SPACE WEATHER BALLOON DATA: Almost once a week, Spaceweather.com and the students of Earth to Sky Calculus fly space weather balloons to the stratosphere over California. These balloons are equipped with sensors that detect secondary cosmic rays, a form of radiation from space that can penetrate all the way down to Earth’s surface. Our monitoring program has been underway without interruption for 6 years, resulting in a unique dataset of in situ atmospheric measurements.

Latest results: Our most recent flight on June 25, 2021, confirms a trend of decreasing cosmic radiation:

[Chart shown at spaceweather.com, you just need to scroll down a bit]

Cosmic ray dose rates peaked in late 2019, and have been slowly declining ever since. This makes perfect sense. Solar Minimum was in late 2019. During Solar Minimum the sun’s magnetic field weakens, allowing more cosmic rays into the solar system. We expect dose rate to be highest at that time.

Now that Solar Minimum has passed, the sun is waking up again. Solar magnetic fields are strengthening, providing a stiffer barrier to cosmic rays trying to enter the solar system. The decline of cosmic radiation above California is a sign that new Solar Cycle 25 is gaining strength.

Who cares? Cosmic rays are a surprisingly “down to Earth” form of space weather. They can seed clouds, trigger lightning, and penetrate commercial airplanes. According to a study from the Harvard T.H. Chan school of public health, crews of aircraft have higher rates of cancer than the general population. The researchers listed cosmic rays, irregular sleep habits, and chemical contaminants as leading risk factors. Somewhat more controversial studies (#1, #2, #3, #4) llink cosmic rays with cardiac arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death.

Effective insolation as used in most calculations only uses solar light and totally ignores solar wind, high energy particles, coronal mass ejections, x-rays, magnetic field effects, etc.

Great tune.

By the way, why is he bellyaching at the sun when he admits nothing is worrying him, him bein’ free and all...?

Oh Heck... why not add a few more bullet points to

the enormous list of things be concerned about

I was thinking viral/bacterial antigen mutations and

SEUs(Single Event Upsets) and SEEs(Sinle Event Effects)

Cosmic rays have enough energy to penetrate and dump tiny bits of energy deep in the Earth, each maybe a about as much as a baseball dropped from a desk top.

Not much. A trivial amount. But the force each air molecule puts on a square inch is minuscule at sea level, yet that adds up to almost 15 lbs per square inch!

There are a LOT of air molecules, and there are a LOT of cosmic rays, especially when the Sun and the Earths magnetic fields are weakened.

That cosmic ray energy adds up over time. There is no easy path to get rid of it, imagine wearing heavy winter clothes adding a biohazard suit and then 20 layers of wool blankets.

You’d overheat pretty quickly! Dozens of miles of rock does much the same as all that insulation. Silica rich magma starts to soften, liquefy and flow...

That's why we call right now 'the present'...

climate change is real. it changes all the time, but not because of man. do not let the leftists change the language. correct them at every turn. yes i believe in climate change. No i do not believe man is the cause. the sun is the culprit.

As do I. He's adding valuable data proving man-made global warming is a pile of bullsh*t. The mountain of data proving it such grows all the while making the control-freak socialist/communist/democrats/global-warming alarmists scream louder and louder. The more they scream the more they discredit themselves.

Let's make them scream LOUDER.

It was inevitable that we'd have to disagree on something.

Gravity may as well be it. :-)

“This is the after action report of the actual kill shot, Clutch.”

Unless we’re playing Death By A Thousand Cuts, which I don’t think we are this is just another reaffirmation article of something we already know about but are being misled into thinking we know nothing. The science has been out there for decades.
