Great underrated tunes from the sixties that should have been hits and belong on the Oldies playlists

One of the things I love about these threads is that so many Freeper's can come up with info like that. I never knew that about NKC.
My intro to him was as a 12 year old kid at the movies: Cat Ballou.
I still love that movie and the song!!

This scored big in the UK and made the playlist of Radio Luxembourg, Western Europe's Top 40 blaster, but went nowhere in the US.
Don't Let Him Touch You--The Angelettes (1972)

Mark 0'Connor played with them. Here he is with
Tony Rice, top-rated bluegrass picker--at least in this number:

This was a huge hit in Europe at the start of 1972, but even though it's about an American city, it went nowhere in the US.
Amarillo--Tony Christie

Another blockbuster hit in Continental Europe and the UK that failed to chart in the US.
Il Silenzio--Nini Rosso (1965)

I always thought that Joe South was very underrated, probably because he wasn't quite pop music and wasn't quite country music:
Don't It Make You Want To Go Home
I don't think people today appreciate The Dave Clark Five as much as they should. A very versatile, prolific, talented band but at their best in high-energy pieces.
Bits and Pieces
Glad All Over
Mike Smith, the main vocalist, is one of the most under-appreciated vocalists in the pop era. Guy had some serious pipes.
