XTC

Label and management legal problems and Andy Partridge’s mental health issues that prevented them from touring helped keep them from really breaking through despite their tremendous talent.

Sadly, I never got to see Alex though Cleveland loved him.
He died so young

Another band that for some reason never got as famous in the States is Status Quo. They were guite the boogie band back in the 70s, before they went lite rock. I saw Alan Lancaster passed a few days ago.

Cool.

His TV show, though very popular appealed to a very middle of the road audience, I believe that caused many to not realize how great of a guitar player he really was in so many ways.

That seems to be the case for a lot of bands.

Their early 70s stuff sounded nothing like “Pictures of Matchstick Men”, that’s for sure.

He was a good guy who like a lot of people in that time period had a problem with Cocaine. Paycheck was way worse, Glen just smiled a lot and lost a lot of money at craps, his favorite game.

That was also the case for Jerry Reed, most just thought of him as the sidekick from the “Smokey and the Bandit” movies.

Eva Cassidy, whose voice and passionate rendering of songs were much like one of her signature renditions, “Fields of Gold.” Eva was known in music clubs in her hometown, never made it big, and died young of cancer. But her recordings have a great following:

Another example is Nat King Cole. Most think of him as the smooth crooner he was late in his career, without realizing he was one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time.

Impressive. Did you hang around with any more members of The Wrecking Crew. Those guys were good.
