Another band that for some reason never got as famous in the States is Status Quo. They were guite the boogie band back in the 70s, before they went lite rock. I saw Alan Lancaster passed a few days ago.

His TV show, though very popular appealed to a very middle of the road audience, I believe that caused many to not realize how great of a guitar player he really was in so many ways.
That seems to be the case for a lot of bands.

He was a good guy who like a lot of people in that time period had a problem with Cocaine. Paycheck was way worse, Glen just smiled a lot and lost a lot of money at craps, his favorite game.
That was also the case for Jerry Reed, most just thought of him as the sidekick from the “Smokey and the Bandit” movies.
