Just heard an explosion outside the US Capitol. Sounded like something blown in place

Haven’t read what the interaction with the driver was. Was he threatening others? Announcing an intention to do harm? A cause or reason for him being there?

Or did they blow up his vehicle as a precaution?

This is getting interesting. The news on the radio is reporting that there were no weapons or explosives, in fact they are not mentioning that there even was an explosion. Just that the guy was parked illegally and when they approached him he stated "The time for talk is over". Why did they detonate the vehicle, and why are they not reporting that part of the story?

As is, this event seems either staged or a sting operation for someone perceived as a loose cannon. Surprised there’s little to no reporting on this.
