A Texas teen accused of killing his twin sister has claimed that he was sleeping when he plunged a knife into her neck, prosecutors said Thursday.
Benjamin Elliott, 17, of Katy, told authorities that he was stunned that he wasn’t dreaming when he woke up between 2:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Wednesday and found himself in sister Meghan Elliot’s bedroom with a knife in her neck, news station KTRK reported.
“The defendant stated after realizing he was not dreaming, he removed the knife and placed it next to the complainant, turned on the light to the bedroom and applied pressure to the wound with a pillow,” a prosecutor told the court.

Mug shot - no remorse
They must have been signs with this kid before this that his parents brushed offed or ignored all together.
Was he taking Ambien?
sleep-stabbing
Thats byedone’s excuse.
Remember that dude Matthew Phelps a few years back who stabbed his wife 123 times and said he was under the influence of cold medicine?
I’m a cynic: He killed her in a fit of pique when she refused his sexual demands. If he was prescribed some sort of psychotropic drug, that certainly didn’t help.
G 1 - gone. Adjudicate it and if guilty get him out of society. Even if he was asleep (sleep-knifing), one that kills someone even in they are sleep needs to be properly put out of society.
What a nightmare for the parents, relatives.
Things like this make me believe in demons...
This kid would have a history of sleep walking and other ambulatory dreaming events if this were remotely possible.
Things like found sleeping in the bathtub and other strange places, wandering out the front or back door, etc.
Not that it legally or morally excuses anything, but I wonder if this kid was involved in any occult practices or interests leading up to this? As the culture abandons godly forms of religion, interest in the occult, occult manifestation, and occult related violence (sometimes connected to drugs) are becoming more common.
It is a sick and tragic thought, but didn’t Jeffery Dahmer get his start this way? Ed Gein?
Not sure what to think, I used to sleep walk and carry on complete conversations with my parents, that’s how I got doing stupid shit. I can still be Prompted to Walk and Talk in MY SLEEP, you have to wake me at the right moment and my Wife woke me once just at the right time accidentally, Freaked her ass out for a while!!
That was the first thing I thought!
Well, neither of them had a twin sibling they stabbed, if that’s what you mean.
If you’re asking if they were sleepwalkers, that I don’t know.
When I was young I dated a guy who’d done a stint in the Navy, and he once told me that in the military you aren’t considered ‘responsible’ for anything you do within a short time of being awakened - I can’t remember how long, but I think it only amounted to seconds. I’ve always wondered if that is true or I somehow misunderstood it...
