McConnell calls Trump a 'fading brand' in Woodward-Costa book

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) referred to former President Trump as a “fading brand,” according to a new book published by Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, the Lexington Herald Ledger reported.

According to their new book “Peril,” McConnell reportedly called Trump “a fading brand. Retired. OTTB as they say in Kentucky — off-the-track Thoroughbred.”

McConnell, often a target of Trump's ire, also reportedly said that he saw a trend indicating that the Republican Party was starting to move away from Trumpism, reportedly saying “Sucking up to Donald Trump is not a strategy that works."

I don’t know. There are even people on this board who are looking at various governors instead of Trump for 2024. I think it has to do with Trump’s problematic hiring abilities and allowing liberal reporters into his Whitehouse like Woodward. If there is someone else who can improve on Trump and is younger, Trump will have problems getting the nomination.

Well Mitch, you and Paul Ryan really showed us just how vile
Trump was. You refused to take advantage of a time when we
had the clear majority in the Senate and the House.

You could have passed permanent tax relief, not just a bill
that sunsets in 2024.

You could have funded a wall on the border. You could have
cleaned up our education system. You could have addressed
the growing hate groups, ANTIFA and BLM.

You could have addressed Critical Race Theory.

Instead you guys set the foundation for what came after
you.

How’s that working for us Mitch. How is the nation better
for those two years you squandered, you POS?

McConnell and the other RINOs are convinced that Trump supporters are simple-minded rednecks with a very short attention span.

They base that on a YUGE misunderstanding:

They think that the reason Republicans voted for Trump was the same reason they voted for Bush, McCain, and Romney - namely, that ANY Republican is better than a Democrat.

What they don’t yet realize is that President Trump changed everything. We got to experience what a good President is like.

Republican voters will no longer vote for just any Republican. Those days are gone.

Isn’t McConnell’s “brand” CSSC Holdings (Chinese State Shipbuilding Corporation)?

McConnell is one of my home state’s senators. I have never liked him much, and see him as the Republican Party’s best argument for term limitation. However, I have to vote for him on Election Day, because neither party can find someone competent to take his place.

It's a quandary that may soon be irrelevant, with or without (but in part because of) him.

McConnell's delusional if he thinks we're moving away from Trump. Maybe in DC they are - - - but NOT in the rest of the country. And DC? They never wanted Trump.

IMHO, I’m more interested in Trump’s genuine leadership skills than ever before. I sent an email to a fundraising effort a couple days ago in which Don jr and Kimberly are heavily involved. It offered me a chance to win a trip to Georgia to a rally with Trump. Big bold letters. Loud. I only needed to donate for a chance to have fun.
I was moved to think Are you kidding me?
I wrote and asked them to remove my name since they didn’t have an unsubscribe button.
I explained I left the party for fund raising tactics like this which I consider juvenile. It’s time to get serious. I want to know what Trump is in a position to do. Who will sit at his sides? Who will have his back? I don’t want fun. If I want to be in Georgia, I’ll be in Georgia. Otherwise I want stability in leadership. I don’t want fun. I want serious. I want quiet. I want so much quiet that the trouble makers stand out like a sore thumb.

I’ve been donating for decades and this is where the party brought me with its weakness.
