DEL RIO, Texas — Governor Greg Abbott ordered the Texas Department of Public Safety and National Guard to use vehicles to create a miles-long barrier to stop the flow of mostly Haitian migrants from crossing the Rio Grande. The vehicle barrier, along with the recently constructed Texas border fencing, effectively blocked the illegal crossings and enabled Border Patrol officials to reduce the population of the Del Rio migrant encampment.

Yep. And import a few hundred gators from Florida and/or Louisiana to seed the river.
End to end would’ve covered 3x’s the ground
Bush-Rove and their minions no longer runs Texas.
Was going to make that suggestion...
Looks to me as if the dam across the Rio Grande that is providing a crossing should have already been throttled out of relevance by a border wall project of it’s own?
Did biteme teared down that the wall?
Just wandering if you don’t mind the analogy
Dallas Texas 2006, during war time, under a Republican George Bush.
500,000 illegal aliens march on Dallas Texas pushing foreign flags in our faces and while making demands and threats. All while Bush celebrated Cinco De Mayo up in the White House...
Bottom line, it would be so easy to secure our borders but the corrupt people running government never had any intention whatsoever of doing so.
“And import a few hundred gators...”
Y’know... That’s happened often enough by accident, the model is proven to work. And it wouldn’t take but a score of, uh “concerned citizens” to get their mojo workin’ and do it their freakin’ selves instead of bitching endlessly.
I’m tired of “government” being the default answer to every question, and YES, that disease infects the right almost as badly as the left. There’s NO WAY the Texas Dept of Wildlife, or whatever their agency is called, would ever raise a finger to do this, and no Governor is ever gonna say, “Do it.” ‘Cuz liabilities and attorneys, and whiners, and criers, and the Karens of the world would have a f’n FIELD Day.
So, it’d have to be something surreptitious like get the “Cajun Navy” and gin up a “Catch and Release” program with strategic drop points where the beasts could get to the water. And you’d need to confirm, ahead of time, that the animals could endure the local climate; Texas and Florida aren’t the same. But start a few breeding pairs of Nile Crocs down at the mouth of the Rio Grande — you know they thrive in the Nile delta, and can stand a bit of salt water.
It’s not a near-term solution, but just the knowledge that the gators are there — photographs on leaflets all over the border regions of Mexico — would tend to dampen some border-hoppin’ zeal. Nobody wants a half-ton lizard gnawin’ on their nuts.
And maybe that’s an even better solution: a disinformation campaign. Get photos of the beasts — or PhotoShop them in along the Rio Grande — and publish scary informational flyers around all the entry points and southwards.
¡PELIGRO!
¡Cocodrilos en el agua!
...with lots of very convincing photographic evidence.
Up for re-election??
The problem with National Guard is that the feds could just take them over.
This is a ludicrous looking fence.
As you said, they can just walk past the cars.
Cubans and Haitians are not welcome, because they vote GOP. The rest of Central American can all walk in, however.
Seems like they could whip together a WH style fence pretty quick. Eight foot tall chain link with razor wire up top. Seems like a better idea than putting $200k worth of cop cars out there that can be walked over.
Not gators,.piranhas.
Sponsored by Ford?
I'd suggest lead poisoning, but that's just me.
If the guard is deployed by Abbot, DC will Title 10 them - they will then be Federal troops under DC command.
And then the feds pay them.
Sea going crocodiles love to eat humans and are meaner and bigger than the alligators.
Has it always been that way? Seems like the States started out as being very sovereign. Mass, VA, PA etc all had State constitutions before there was a US constitution.
Abbott could simply tell his NG to ignore fedgov. Any members who don’t like it can go home. Fedgov isn’t fulfilling it’s constitutional duty. It’s about time the damn States stand up to the fedgov that the states created.
And then the feds pay them.

Pays them (a federalized nationa guard) to help more people cross, while keeping TX troopers and BGs at bay. They would make the situation 10X worse.
I posted the photos that were with the article, but for whatever reason Admin must have removed them. I guess Admin assumes FReepers would be sharp enough to, you know, actually read the article and see the photos for themselves? Anyway, the State of Texas did erect fencing. Here's one photo:
