Inventory is a cost. The whole time business is mythically “sitting on supply they are losing more money daily then they would gain.
Not only is warehousing all that supply a cost, all their other costs, from the loans they took out to build their infrastructure to paying their work forces and suppliers are still having to be paid. This is especially true for a perishable commodity like meat that requires refigeration.
Unless you are a sole source trading in a non necessity like diamonds, you cannot afford to “Sit on supply”
