Thanks to the news out of Afghanistan, Jen Psaki’s recent admission that the executive branch has been colluding with the tech giants to suppress free speech, has apparently passed into the ether with far less scrutiny than it deserves. In fact, this is such a clear violation of the First Amendment that it defies any obvious logic or rationale. But Psaki’s announcement isn’t the first act in this play; it’s only the most recent act in the left’s years-long flouting of the rule of law.
It appeared, at first, as though there might have been a major revelation in the works and that the administration was simply trying to get out in front of it. The media, however, know that they control the narrative and no matter how big a bomb gets dropped, they are confident that they can whitewash it or twist it into something else. Sadly, their confidence seems well-founded. The Hunter Biden laptop story should have ended Joe Biden’s political career, but the press was able to sweep it all under the rug where it mostly remains to this day.
The only thing that stands between this administration and the kind of dictatorial power that its members so crave is the Bill of Rights and specifically, the First Amendment. The mainstream media is powerful enough to bend and shape the news where they see fit but Donald Trump nevertheless won the 2016 election and seventy-five million people (and probably millions more) voted for him in 2020.
That is appalling to leftists. It looks as if they had formulated a plan, going way back before the 2020 election, to rid themselves of the last vestiges of a free press.

They aren’t trying to hide anything anymore because they have taken over and are merely rubbing it in everyone’s face.
Their rationale will be:
“The Constitution says ‘Congress shall make no law’, but it doesn’t mention Executive Orders, so it’s all good”.
I don’t know how we heal and move forward as a nation when there is such a huge philosophical divide. Anyone who values personal freedom and self-determination will never see eye to eye with someone who thinks Karl Marx was a genius.
They aren’t trying to hid it because there is no opposition party. On all the big domestic issues the GOP and Democrats are in basic alignment: Open borders, health care, American job destroying unfair trade, etc.

The Dems either believe they will win the 2022 election by control of the voting machines or there will not be an election.
What that misses is it takes real courage, not just keyboard bravado.
Can we throw off this government? Sure.
What we have in front of us though is the rest of the culture. A very real hearts and minds battle right here on our own turf. We are watching the failure of that idea right now in the Middle East. Their “culture” doesn’t and will never allow freedom.
America was founded as ‘freedom first.’ And it has slipped away, very far away from that ideal. The ideal that it is ‘freedom first.’ Even the rhetoric around the the pandemic is group thinking and sacrifice personal freedom. Yes, it is OK during a crisis for the survival of the whole, but now we have governments creating passports for a virus/any reason. Now people have lost their privacy and freedom permanently. And it is going to get a lot worse.
Yes, we can throw off the government. But we’ve got to deal with the culture. In many ways this was much, much easier at our founding. There was no mass media, social media, freedom of movement, freedom of association, our mail was private. We have none of that now. A pamphleteer today needs a permit, you need a permit to stand on your soapbox in the town square.
No, gaining back what we have lost just is not going to happen. And I was just thinking this morning, before evening sitting down to FR...this is not the country I want to live in. This isn’t what it was supposed to be like at this time in MY life. I came to realize even if the leadership was gone, nothing would change and this headlong plunge into darkness will continue.
Strategically the democrats/marxists hold all the cities. We look on at that and marvel, but instead we should ask ourselves...why. Why is every major city in the United States blue? Last week I had to drive through a rough part of town to see a client. As I drove past 30 blocks of closed up storefronts, once built by immigrants post WWII...now empty and abandoned. I wondered what is wrong with the people who live in these neighborhoods today that they have not and were not able to be lifted up by what these previous immigrants created? Where is this neighborhood’s entrepreneurs and creatives? As I sat with the client in their ‘flipped house’ 18 shots rang out across the street in the apartment complex. Everything fell silent outside and inside for several minutes and then the world went on about its business.
America was a great experiment and had a good run, but we cannot keep it. I don’t know where in the world the Liberty Bell will ring again. I just know that today I am living in a country I no longer understand and do not want to be living in.
I recall hearing Rush opine on the longterm intentions of the Leftists, and, as usual, he was spot on. He observed that Democrats arrogantly despise elections, and consider the entire process of having to routinely persuade the ignorant masses of their lofty ideals as something far far beneath them; they would be happy to do away with elections at the first opportunity. It seemed like hyperbole to me at the time, but here we are.
I know a leftist in Washington who lives in Georgetown and works for a leftist organization who confided one time in exasperation that her cause was not gaining traction: “Why do we have to have elections that change Administrations back and forth between Democrats and Republicans? It makes it so hard to get anything done.”
Bingo and Oshkalaboom! So troublesome having to deal with those pesky Bills of Rights....
And we are a minority, IMO.
I waited fort my friend at the VA hospital in Pittsburgh yesterday, out in the parking lot for almost six hours while he had same-day-surgery and I started conversation with two or three folks ... vets and relatives of.
They really have no clue what we talk about here
