Portland police said Monday that they are looking for another shooter or shooters after arresting a man suspected of opening fire at a protest in downtown Portland Sunday afternoon.
Dennis G. Anderson, a 65-year old Gresham resident, faces allegations of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm after police said he fired on a group of demonstrators around 5:45 p.m.
Multiple videos posted to social media show a man standing behind a trash bin near Southwest Yamhill Street and Southwest Second Avenue aiming a silver-and-black handgun and firing multiple shots across the street. A video taken by one witness showed shots being fired toward the shooter. It's unclear who may have shot first.
Police now say investigators had recovered evidence of at least one other gun being fired in the same area.
"A group of people may have been pursuing Anderson shortly before the gunfire started", police said in a statement. "(Investigators are) working to determine if there were any potential victims and/or suspects in that group."
A probable cause affidavit filed Monday afternoon said that an officer interviewed Anderson who said he was confronted by two people dressed in black who had guns. Anderson told the officer that the people pointed the guns at him and told him to leave, then followed him for five blocks and threatened to shoot him. Anderson told the officer that he "decided to shoot in their direction one time", and that they returned fire and he ran away...

These incidents are just the beginning.
There’s more to this story than was put out last night that’s for sure.
It was wild enough with the bats and paintball guns, the fire extinguisher and so on.

On a similar topic, did anybody see this video from Heavy Duty Country on Youtube?
Does not look good for Kyle Rittenhouse.

"A group of people may have been pursuing Anderson shortly before the gunfire started", ...
Sounds familiar.
You can see a bullet strike in the video of him shooting. Someone was definitely shooting back.
“one time” <> “until the threat was eliminated”.
Brought a pistol to the rifle range...
I’ve seen a shooter who could consistently NAIL a 3” circle at 100yd with an S&W K-frame. Said it was his third; he’d stretched the first two outta the limits of accuracy putting rounds through them. .357 IIRC
This guy wasn’t that guy.
Must have been a hot tip on ‘Proud Boy’ involvement.
We know they won’t take action against ANTIFA or BLM.
It’s just barely started.
” consistently NAIL a 3” circle at 100yd with an S&W K-frame”
I’d have to see it to believe it.
I don’t think it’s possible.
Nothing to worry about. Inspector Clouseau and his Keystone Cops are on the scene, but not at the scene of the shootings. Missed it by THAT MUCH!
The Chief liked adding to his trophy collection. He would have all the top pistol shooters work one Sunday a month, driving the cruiser around the village.
The history teacher would stop by our kitchen on the way to the shoots and have three fingers of Cutty Sark "group tightener." He'd stand on the firing line like a graven image, with a .38 S&W with an 8 inch custom barrel. He shot more than one Slow Fire Possible. (A perfect score.)
Never doubt what someone can do.
I wouldn’t have if I hadn’t watched with my own two eyes.
I was just packin up to go when he got there, and I only watched for just a few minutes. And maybe he was just getting lucky, but he went 5 for 5 at some targets level out across a wash, then neatly picked another three or four rounds right off the razor edge of a rock ridge 250-350ft up at about 75 degrees elevation.
Like I said, he might have been on a helluva streak that day, but if he’d already worn out a couple of good K-frames in his time like he’d claimed; that’s thousands of rounds through the same configuration over the years. That gun hadda be like an extension of his mind after all that. For sure went a long way toward explaining what I saw him do — guy was Dead-eye accurate.
I wouldn’t have gone up against him with a scoped rifle at 500ft; if he didn’t pick me with the first round, it wouldn’t be but one or two more the way he was putting lead on target.
When I was young I used to hunt with a guy that would bet anyone that he could hit their ‘watch face’ at 100 yds with his smooth bore, open sighted, 12 ga slug gun.
That was standing with no rest, and that was long before rifled bore shotguns and sabot slugs. That was regular 12 ga slugs and a cheap single shot ‘Ithaca super single’ with open sights.
He would stand like a statue at a measured 100 yds and drill the watch of anybody dumb enough to bet him he couldn’t do it. He didn’t just come close or hit the watch band, he would hit the watch face dead center and do it every time.
I all my life I’ve never seen anybody that could shoot like him, and most of the time he was half drunk when he did it!
Yeah, that’s just amazing. I bet a lot of it’s eyesight.
“Normal” is 20/20, but that’s not an exact notch; it’s a range.
There’s guys like Chuck Yeager who have a natural farsight that’s not quite to where they need glasses growing up, but they can pick out a bird or a plane against the glare of a clear blue sky a long while before any “normal” person can see it.
Somebody with eyesight that sharp would have a big advantage as a marksman, even without a scope.
“Yeah, that’s just amazing. I bet a lot of it’s eyesight.”
Yeah, a lot of it is eyesight, but my guess is the fact he could stand like a statue and never waver had more to do with it.
He was a big guy and short for his about 300 lbs size. A gun in his hands was like clamping it in a vise and mounting the vise to a 2 ton bolder.
Since we are on this off topic line
I knew a pretty much alcoholic retired Army major who could shoot an old Ruger western style 44 magnum revolver out to 40 or 50 yards like it was a rifle. I could only handle that gun with 44 special
Saw him shoot 2 deer at about 30 yards one in the eye other in the throat so quick I don’t think I had time to blink
Six out of six into the bottom of a five gallon paint can at a measured 150 yards. S&W K-14, Remington .38 Spl +P+. It got boring.
