cup of joe is about to get even more expensive as a severe Brazilian frost compounded by surging freight costs could push the price of coffee beans even higher in the coming weeks.
According to Reuters, the worst frost to hit Brazil – the world’s largest coffee producer - since 1994 has sent the price of green coffee beans to the highest level seen in almost seven years, which will cause consumers to feel the pinch when they purchase roasted beans or ground coffee in supermarkets.
The damage was so severe that farmers may need to replant trees that could take up to three years to begin production.
The Brazilian government’s food supply agency Conab has estimated that the July 20 frost affected 150,000 to 200,000 hectares or about 11% of Brazil’s total Arabica crop, the New York Post reported.

We have stocked up on coffee to the point that the cabinet cannot hold any more.
;-)
You mean coffee at the Starbucks that I never go to will be more expensive?
Oh Gosh Darn it.
We use Keurig at home and only use Costco’s Kirkland brand dark roast. They put it on sale every now and then for around $.24 a pod in boxes of around 130. Because we live 90 minutes from costco we tend to stock up on it and sardines (buy the maximum) when they go on sale.
We currently have nine boxes, so we’re good for a while. :)
As much as I love the more expensive coffee, I stocked up on Folgers and Maxwell House when they were on sale for 5.99 for the 24 or 25oz containers.
My $1.25 gas station coffee might go to $1.50. OK.
they have smart futures guys

My favorite Schadenfreude. When I was going into the office I would see these fools with charbucks in their hands where I would brew my own (better) and put it in a good travel mug. Their cost: 1,000 a year. Mine: $50 a year if that.
It is the FIRST think financial planners tell to drop.
LOL yes Starbucks will go up in price as well. This gives them a reason for raising prices, apart from the so called transitory inflation we are experiencing.
Me, too.
The opportunity to be harassed by a punky young barista who writes a Sharpie note on my cup such as "Let's You and Me Talk About Racism" is not one I wished to accept. Never went back.
Another gourmet like me, huh?
A talk radio guy (I think it was Joe Pags) shocked his female cohost by admitting he gets a lot of his nutrition from "buying and consuming whatever they have by the coffee area of the gas station."
For a while they sold the same brand of Mackerel. I have a few cans left. It’s a much milder flavor.
Both of those are, IMO, the best way to get the positive benefits of eating fish, partly because they have short life spans so you don’t have to worry about a heavy metal accumulation.
Yep. I abandoned Starbucks about a decade ago.
If you can’t afford that coffee, then put it down.
Coffee is for closers only.
That’s one of the reasons I don’t drink it.
I know why. Because the LA Times loves Democrats and couldn’t blame Trump.
Newly married, my wife had an extended weekend visiting her sister and when she came home was horrified to find out I ran out of shampoo and was using the Dawn dish soap to shampoo with. That stuff’s great. Use it to wash the dishes, the truck, your hair. It does it all!
