San Diegans beg city to curb violence by homeless: 'like you’re in the 'Walking Dead''

San Diegans are asking police and city officials to do more to control random attacks by homeless people in parts of the city.

"Walking through America’s Finest City shouldn’t feel like you’re in ‘The Walking Dead,’" resident Aislinn Fava told NBC San Diego.

Fava hasn’t made it beyond the sidewalk of her apartment building alone since a homeless man attacked her three weeks ago. He reportedly punched her in the back of the head while she ran an errand to pick up a smoothie, and was then hit again as the man attempted to steal her purse.

The suspect, Giovanni Moore, was arrested and is facing battery and robbery charges.

"I used to feel kind of invincible," Fava said. "And I felt really safe in San Diego and never thought anything like this could happen. Ever. And that completely changed on that day."

The incident comes amid an increase in violent attacks in recent weeks, with the mayor saying homelessness has also spiked in the last year.

The San Diego Police Department couldn't immediately provide statistics on how many violent crimes involve homeless people.

"We have an uptick in violent crime in general," said Mayor Todd Gloria, a Democrat. "And being homeless is not a crime, but being homeless is not a get-out-of-jail-free card either.

"A lot of that has to do with the fact that during the pandemic we had to enforce social distancing rules in our homeless shelters," he added. "That meant that literally hundreds of our beds have not been able to be occupied."

Fava and other victims of violent attacks are asking city officials to do more to protect the public.

It’s what you get when going from a moderate ‘Pub, Kevin Faulconer, who did a decent job addressing homelessness in America’s Finest City (particularly homeless veterans), to a homosexual Communist ‘RAT who is soft on crime.

The people in question are not homeless. Rather, they are tent dwelling squatters

Anyway, it is out of control, and government officials and political leaders in city after city seemingly have no control over this.

They make big money off of "out of control," between federal funding and desperate citizens who'll vote for anything on the ballot promising to fix the problem.

That money winds up in the pockets of homeless nonprofits, advocacy groups, contractors who build overpriced housing, and later, politicians' campaign funds. Homelessness and vagrancy gets worse, more money is shoveled at the same people, wash, rinse and repeat.

The LAST thing the government and its parasites want is their out of control problem to go away.

The cows have come home to roost. Liberals created their ‘utopian socialist society’, and citizens voted for it over and over and over. Citizens opposed arresting homeless, or running them out of town, by voting for liberals they knew would oppose it. Now they want taxpayers to throw tons of money at the problem to fix it without doing what is necessary, arresting and moving homeless put of the areas.

Repub, icons saw the writing on the wall and tried to warn liberals, but liberals were just too wise, to accept that advice, and now we have a break down of society that will only get worse and worse unless ,I erals fi nilly pull their heads out of thr sand and get real about the problems.

We also used to have people with mental problems institutionalized, but liberals In All their wisdom opposed this too. Now mentally ill people ca run around claiming to be the opposite sex, or any one of 1000 different made up genders, and Noone can do anything to help these poor mentally ill people. Liberals in their infinite wisdom tell us we must accept whatever anyone e claims as long as their claim is deviant and perverted ant anti-science

“Welcome to the Zombie apocalypse.”

Watch some of the YouTube videos on fentanyl addiction. These homeless people look like zombies the way they gyrate around. I saw one bum interviewed who said their habit cost about $200 a day. Most of the money she earned came from panhandling. These idiots who give sign holders money are really contributing toward their deaths!

“ Or did we not have a handle on these issues decades ago, but were able to incarcerate people for vagrancy and other offenses years ago?”

We, as a society, put people in jail for vagrancy. Usually just for a night with a kick in the pants to go to the next town down the road. Sometimes more than a kick in the pants.

We, as a society, used to put people with mental disorders into facilities to keep them off of the streets. Sometimes drugs were involved to keep them docile while in the facilities…sometimes lobotomies were used.

Books and movies (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest) changed public opinion toward these practices. The argument was that it was not nice to treat people this way. The opposing argument was that these people would have nowhere to go other than the streets, and it would be bad for them as well as others.

And here we are.

That would mean Falconer is the answer to the recall question but no freepers seem to care.

Even my small city has homeless everywhere. A few reason... Generous welfare from the government and charity from the churches that keep them hanging around but do nothing to get them off the streets and out of the forest. Corporations, Californians and Washingtonians have bought every scrap of land and cheap house and turned them to airbnb rentals, vacation homes, or rebuilt huge houses on the property for themselves driving out the long term rental market. Importation of illegal aliens and “refugees” have been placed in what was left of the rental housing and they don’t work. The van and car dwelling lifestyle is fully established which brought with it people who had no reason to ever live in my neck of the woods but it is a nice place and they know they will get the free stuff from the charity groups and food bank. Transients are the worst of the worst. They completely trash an area then just drive off. And our local town government won’t do anything to confront them.

You live in a city and you live in a state run by Democrats that want you to be unarmed. Sucks to be you.

“We closed the mental institutions. Also, drugs were not as prevalent in the 60s and 70s.”

It’s enforcement mostly.

When I was a kid the cops would pick up bums, drive them to the edge of town and beat their ass.

Every city and town would do the same, making the bums reconsider their lifestyle.

Probably the same type of people that have no problem with their neighbor getting fined for letting their lawn get two inches too tall. Embrace the suck.
