BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Kenyell Wilson, an outreach worker with the Safe Streets program, was shot and killed Thursday in Baltimore, police said.
Wilson walked into Harbor Hospital with gunshot wounds at 4:41 p.m. and died a short time later, police said.
Police have not determined where in the city the shooting occurred.
Mayor Brandon Scott released a statement on Thursday evening following the news:
“Safe Streets has a special place in my heart and I consider the Violence Interrupters who bravely serve this program as a part of my family. Tonight, our brother Kenyell Wilson became a victim of the gun violence he worked every day to prevent. I am deeply saddened and angered that ‘Benny’s’ life was taken in a weak cowardly act. I have spoken with Commissioner (Michael) Harrison and directed him to make apprehending the individual or individuals responsible for taking the life of one of our prime examples of changing your life a top priority. I ask that you keep Kenyell’s family and his Safe Streets family in your prayers and reflect on ways that you can continue the work of our fallen soldier in your own community. My administration will continue to support Safe Streets and community-based violence interventions like it. We will not be deterred from doing so and will further invest in these interventions that work and will continue to be central to my comprehensive strategy to reduce violence in Baltimore.”

While I’m sorry the man is dead, this is one of the few incidents where where liberal ideology only hurt the liberal. Normally, it’s liberals enacting policies...the consequences of, they do not have to experience.
They need cops and real prosecutors.
Social Workers for the Victims and their families.
Maybe if the Democrats believed it was an armed insurrection, they would do something.

The Baltimore Mayor’s statement above following this young man’s death says ALL about democrats. How many more Kenyell’s are the Democrats going to slaughter before they put some big, bad, strong, tough as nails cops back out on the street supported by some ruthless DA’s? After that, they need a “Fathers” program and about 20 years later things will get better.
You can’t make this stuff up.
These inner city slums need to be liberated the same way Fallujah was. Block by block, house by house.

Former Member of Baltimore’s Safe Streets Program Pleads Guilty to Drug Distribution Conspiracy
Baltimore, Maryland –Ronald Alexander, age 50 of Baltimore, pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to distribute fentanyl, heroin, and powder and crack cocaine. While he was participating in the narcotics conspiracy, Alexander was employed by “Safe Streets,” an organization whose purpose is to reduce violence and crime in Baltimore through intervention. While he was engaged in the distribution of fentanyl and other dangerous narcotics, Alexander used his affiliation with Safe Streets to evade law enforcement in Baltimore, including on one occasion to avoid arrest when police seized from him a large quantity of fentanyl.
Uhm...might be more here than some poor social worker getting shot. SafeStreets Program my backside.
And children need to be removed, housed, taught, cared for. Just like what London did with their children during the blitz.
They won’t. These programs are cover for drug distribution. Not interventions. Heck this program was designed after Chicago’s CeaseFire program. Odd how that didn’t work out either.

This is very odd. Why would Safe Street officials call upon the police department to apprehend the murderer? Isn’t that a job for Safe Street violence interrupters?
If I was a betting man, I'd say the very reason this poor man was shot and is now dead is because he was targeted for being a Safe Street Outreach worker.
The murderous thugs in Baltimore are sending a clear message to the "the Man" that they aren't going to play their social justice warrior crap.
democRATS are all about outreach and feelings and social justice and liberal talking points.
Republicans are all about cops shooting and/or rounding up the criminal thugs and prosecuting them, throwing them in jail and tossing the keys away.
Nothing will change in these liberal urban hellholes until the democRATS who run them, toss out the stale, old liberal playbook and start using the real word playbook the criminals will understand.

Reminds me of those peace activists who travel to the most dangerous parts of the world (to show how “wrong” everyone is about those areas) & get promptly get themselves killed.
It’s almost guaranteed that anything having to do with “stopping violence” in cities is going to end up with people being killed and guns (rather than people) being blamed.
Because people would have burst out laughing at all of this ridiculous Safe Street Outreach and ludicrous Violence Interrupter liberal talking points bilge. It is not leadership.
Somebody in these liberal urban hellholes needs to grow a real pair of brass pelotas to turn this thing around. They're tiptoeing around the real problems won't get the job done.
Allow the crime to get out of control, then defund the police, and plug in these safe street outreach social justice warriors and see how well that "interrupts the violence".
Aint exactly working out too well, now is it mayor?
