RUSSIA'S "city killer" submarine has set sail for the first time packed with nuclear drones capable of triggering monster tsunamis.
The 604ft Belgorod - which is twice the size of the Royal Navy's Astute-class attack subs - reportedly took to the sea for the first time on Friday.
The 14,700-tonne war machine bristles with nuclear-tipped underwater drone torpedoes - each guided by artificial intelligence.
The secretive launch came after Vladimir Putin's navy vowed to sink British warships the next time they sail too close to Crimea.
The war talk followed a face-off in the Black Sea where HMS Defender was accused of making a "deliberate provocation" by the Kremlin as it entered waters deemed to be Russian territory.
Experts fear the Belgorod's huge torpedoes could be detonated underwater sparking 300ft high waves which could devastate coastal cities.
The giant sub is reportedly operated on behalf of the nation's secretive Main Directorate of Undersea Research and is thought to be fitted with up to eight nuclear-armed torpedoes.
Each of the 79ft weapons is capable of carrying warheads with an explosive power of two megatons.

Russia's Newest Submarines Are "On Par With Ours" According To Senior American General
The head of U.S. Northern Command says that Russia's Yasen class submarines are set to present a "persistent proximate threat" to the United States.

China’s Latest Submarine Seems To Have Lifted Its Sail Design From Sweden’s New A26 Class
The Type 039C Yuan submarine looks set to build on China’s existing, highly capable fleet of diesel-electric attacks subs and is likely even quieter.

Hunt for red October 2
LOL, I’ll read these...but the Yasen’s are hardly new and were a joke when they got stuck in port in 2014, I believe.
Ironically, Jaws was based on the 1916 Jersey Shore shark attacks. After the first one or two attacks, there were some in the media of the day that were pushing the theory that swimmers had been struck by rogue torpedoes from German submarines.
Gee, Who “sold” the Uranium to Russia so Vlad could build these monsters? Why, Hillary, of course!
Things haven’t changed much at all. Read your articles in context of the Russians have had very little extended patrolling due to inferior sub manufacturing and inferior technology.
The Russians just completed the 3rd in the Yasen class of submarine. The technology is not on par with US subs. In fact, it was meant to answer the US Virginia class of sub, in which the Virginia class is full speed ahead and been through several blocks of modernization of sensors.
The Yasen class has been heavily delayed. The Russian sub manufacturing system is horrible. They only have 2 in service and 7 more expected by 2030. THEY WILL NOT MEET THAT GOAL.
“The first of these entered service in 2013, twenty years after construction began. Construction on the second Yasen began in 2009 and took twelve years to complete.” https://www.strategypage.com/htmw/htsub/articles/20210614.aspx?comments=Y
US Virginia class ?
19 are in full operating service.
38 by 2030...55 Virginia class by the time the next new sub class Russian jalopy is put out.
Russia has plenty of Uranium to make all the weapons they want. That was about cornering the market on nuclear fuel. A money play. Safe reactors are the future of energy, not the silly renewables.
That article on Chinese subs was written by a tranny. 🙄
does that make it any less true?
So you need to go pronto the the Navy and tell them that based on your expertise that they have nothing to worry about and the Admirals that are worried need to chill, right?
>>with nuclear drones capable of triggering monster tsunamis
What’s that gonna do for Global Warming?
Just so you know, AI doesn't mean it "learns as it goes."
“Eight 2-megaton nukes to make a big tidal wave... Well, one 2-megaton nuke detonated above would render pretty much any city leveled and depopulated, right? So why use eight?”
I speculate......
At this stage of technology it is impossible to intercept long range nuke tipped torpedoes far enough away when aimed at a general coastal area or even a large harbor...to avoid terminal destruction.
Cruise missiles, short, medium, and long range missiles, etc. are intercepted all the time in training exercises....though the cruise missiles are tough unless you are watching for them.
With nukes, distance of destruction from target is the key.
Sure there is a threat. But, this is mostly about wanting more money. We recently added a fleet operation in the area as well as an OPFOR unit, due to the Russians finally getting there 1977 designs to factory...and they have all of 3 new subs.
The Admirals duty is to get more funding to alleviate the threat. They know exactly, as I do, that every nuclear sub is tracked and monitored.
There is only a contextual threat, due to limited operations of the Russian Navy. Now, that is on the uptick, but they have so few resources, that they are in check.
Their shit is mostly old. You need to do more research in the area.
The Submarine Kursk before failure
The Submarine Kursk after failure
Really?
Well if that is the submarine in question...using the men on the hull for scale...the sub doesn’t appear to be 600 feet long.
Seems to me the bigger they are the easier to track.
GloBull warming and white supremacy! That’s what our attack subs are fighting now.
It appears I’ve reached my limit of free stories from the commie times and must now pay to read.
Is there a cliff notes version of the story?
