ONWARD CHRISTIAN SOLDIERS

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before;
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

At the sign of triumph Satan's host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers, on to victory.
Hell's foundations quiver at the shout of praise;
Brothers lift your voices proud your anthems raise.

Like a mighty army moves the church of God;
Brothers, we are treading where the saints have trod;
We are not divided, all one body we,
One in hope and doctrine, one in charity.

What the saints established that I hold for true;
What the saints believed, that I believe too.
Long as earth endureth, men the faith will hold;
Kingdoms, nations, empires, in destruction rolled.

Crowns and thrones may perish, kingdoms rise and wane,
But the church of Jesus constant will remain;
Gates of hell can never gainst that church prevail;
We have Christ's own promise, and that cannot fail.

Onward then, ye people, join our happy throng,
Blend with ours your voices in the triumph song;
Glory, laud, and honour unto Christ the King;
This through countless ages men and angels sing.

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.

"Onward, Christian Soldiers” was written in 1865 with no intention of ever being published, especially in adult hymn books. Rev. Sabine Baring-Gould, its author, was at that time the curate of a parish in Yorkshire county in the north of England. "It was written in great haste, and I am afraid some of the rhymes are faulty. Certainly nothing has surprised me more than its great popularity."

In 1871 Arthur Sullivan wrote the tune “St. Gertrude” for the hymn, which further popularized the hymn and has ever since been its standard melody.

Hey there, Kathy.

It was a little slow at the museum today but that was ok with us. We were slammed yesterday and didn’t mind the break. LOL

Getting some rest this evening. Vacuumed after I got home, then fed the cats and us.

I kept hearing thumping after I sat down at the computer and kept getting up to try to figure out what the heck the cats were knocking around. Finally figured out the noise was outside and it was fireworks. Been out there watching for several minutes. They were sporadic and I couldn’t see all of them but did get to see several.
They’ve stopped now so I’m not getting up any more for a while. LOL

It looks like it’s been another gloomy day up there but I haven’t seen any rain on the Lake Hood cam. If it isn’t going to rain, the sun might as well shine.

Hey there, radu!

Did you have fun at the museum yesterday and today?

We had rain today. It snuck up on us. But we've gotten over 1/2 inch.

Legacy of Kindness

Bible in a Year:

All the widows stood around him, crying and showing him the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them.

Acts 9:39

Martha served as a teacher’s aide at an elementary school for over thirty years. Every year, she saved money to buy new coats, scarves, and gloves for students in need. After she lost her fight with leukemia, we held a celebration of life service. In lieu of flowers, people donated hundreds of brand-new winter coats to the students she loved and served for decades. Many people shared stories about the countless ways Martha encouraged others with kind words and thoughtful deeds. Her fellow teachers honored her memory with an annual coat drive for three years after her life ended on this side of eternity. Her legacy of kindness still inspires others to generously serve those in need.

In Acts 9, the apostle Luke shares a story about Dorcas, a woman who was “always doing good and helping the poor” (v. 36). After she got sick and died, the grieving community urged Peter to visit. All the widows showed Peter how Dorcas had lived to serve (v. 39). In a miraculous act of compassion, Peter brought Dorcas back to life. The news of Dorcas’ resurrection spread, and “many people believed in the Lord” (v. 42). But it was Dorcas’ commitment to serving others in practical ways that touched the hearts in her community and revealed the power of loving generosity.

Reflect & Pray

How can you love someone with your kind words and deeds today? How has God used someone else’s kindness to draw you closer to Him?

Loving God, please help me to love others in practical ways each day so I can leave a legacy of kindness that points others straight to You.

Yes, he has. LOL! I do take time out for a nap. Gotta do that so I can stay up and play tunes without making a mess. I’m the only mod on Twitter Live, but it’s thankfully quiet.

Hey there, luvie.

Yes, it was a lot of fun this weekend at the museum. We were slammed yesterday and only three of us were working. I was asleep BEFORE midnight and that just doesn’t happen. LOL
Today was slower and we had more working so it wasn’t nearly as exhausting.

WOOHOO on your rain! ‘Bout time you got a decent dose of it. Your hubby might not be cheering so much because we all know rain = mowing. LOL

No rain for us. And it hasn’t been as hot as they keep saying it’ll be, which is great. Still pretty warm but a stiff wind has made it bearable to be outside.

I’m glad you didn’t get the weather they had around Lamesa. They had tornados and Bob Pack and Mike Pendergast (travelling together) had one pass REAL close to them. Mike has a video at the storm chasers’ site. I was watching it ‘live’ while eating supper and it had me holding my breath.

I’ve gotten to listen to very little of his streams the past couple of days but have tried to catch a little at least. I listened to quite a bit of tonight’s stream, skipping through since I got to it late.
Such a tragedy.

I know...and it’s not going to get any better. I think all involved know they are looking for bodies...and like earlier today, body parts that can’t yet be identified. He’ll stay with it till there is no more to tell.

Because of it being Sunday, I won’t get to be around as mod for long. But I’ll do what I can, and listen when I can.

It was obvious from the moment it came down that the prospects would be grim. Like everyone else, I feel sad for the families .... and for the workers on the pile of rubble.

Right now, I feel sorriest for the families, not having any idea if their loved ones will ever be found. But the workers have got to know that they are going to find horrors underneath there.

Guess I’d better go as soon as my show finished. Early morning, of course. See ya tomorrow!

As I said, it’s very grim.

Get a good night’s sleep. The alarm won’t make you very happy in the morning. LOL

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))

Have you and Gizmo had good times on your romps this weekend? Had to fight crowds?

It looks a little dicey weather-wise in your neck of the woods tonight. I hope it doesn’t get too wild.

Hey, good morning Radu and everybody. Just trying to catch up on some nap time. The next couple of days are going to be busy with service appointments for the Ford Ranger and other stuff. We also had some thunder and lightning last night and this morning.

We had a fun visit to Comanche Lake yesterday. There were quite a few people out there but Gizmo did manage to get some rock walking time yesterday.

We had to walk the golf course because there were people fishing on the curve.

Today is KFC pickup day. We plan on doing one more trip to the lake later today.

He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defense Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our G-d from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea.

May HASHEM cause the enemies who rise up against us to be struck down before them. May the Holy One, Blessed is He, preserve and rescue our fighting men from every trouble and distress and from every plague and illness, and may He send blessing and success in their every endeavor.

May He lead our enemies under their sway and may He grant them salvation and crown them with victory. And may there be fulfilled for them the verse: For it is Hashem, your G-d, Who goes with you to battle your enemies for you to save you.

G-d bless and keep your children safe, Alouette.
