LOS ANGELES (AP) — Britney Spears asked a judge Wednesday to end the court conservatorship that has controlled her life and money since 2008. The dramatic request at a Los Angeles hearing came with her first words in open court in the conservatorship during its 13-year existence. Spears called the conservatorship “abusive,” and condemned her father and the others who have controlled it. “I want to end this conservatorship without being evaluated,” Spears said by phone in a long, emotional and sometimes profane speech, in which she condemned the legal arrangement and her father, who has controlled it for most of its existence. Advertisement: “This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good,” she said. “I deserve to have a life.” Spears said she wants to marry her boyfriend Sam Asghari and have a baby, but the conservatorship won’t allow her to. She told the court she’s being forced to take birth control against her will. “All I want is to own my money and for this to end and for my boyfriend to be able to drive me in his (expletive) car,” Spears said. In the written speech that lasted more than 20 minutes, Spears revealed many details that have been carefully guarded for years by the court. Advertisement: When an attorney representing her co-conservator said the hearing and transcript should be kept sealed if private medical information was to be revealed, Spears shouted her down to say her words should be public. “They’ve done a good job at exploiting my life,” Spears said, “so I feel like it should be an open court hearing and they should listen and hear what I have to say.”

I don't normally watch Fox News these days, but last night I was channel surfing and happened to stop on Tucker. To my surprise, he had actress Rose McGowan (think what you will of her, but she was one of the first actresses in Hollywood to call out Harvey Weinstein for his behavior.). She's not someone you would ever think would appear on a show like Tucker's, but there she was.
Anyway, McGowan is on a crusade to help Britney be freed from the shackles of the conservatorship her after had her placed in when she was 25. It was actually a very interesting conversation and McGowan made some really compelling points about what has been happening to Spears.
Ditto for Nickolodeon or any other entertainment company that makes their profits on the backs of children.
She should refuse to perform, or does her father threaten to throw her back into a hospital if she doesn’t?

I suspect the court could, if they wanted to. She could be under conservatorship but have a third party, court-appointed person act as the oversight rather than her father.
