Delusional de Blasio somehow manages to reach new low on way out the door
NY Post ^ | 06/22/2021 | Maureen Callahan

The most tone-deaf mayor in New York City’s history has given the most tone-deaf exit interview ever — tiptoeing through the tulips, quite literally, as the city is ravaged by rampant crime, homelessness, lawlessness and trash.

But join him, won’t you, as Bill de Blasio grants a reporter the privilege of sharing his daily 90-minute midday stroll through Prospect Park. It’s not like there’s anything more pressing to do.

Really: If you don’t laugh, you’ll cry. This particular perambulation, reported by Politico’s Ruby Cramer, went up on primary day, the timing itself a damning indictment.

Nothing will change in the big apple, regardless of who becomes the new mayor.

DeBlasio dragged NYC back to he 70s. I bet the city dwellers will elect yet another clueless Marxist. They seem to revel in the crime and filth.

“He owns a vacation home in my parent’s gated community.”

Great opportunity to take a dump on his lawn.

That’s all that’s running. Adams is marginally better, but they’re all woke Marxists.

When do they elect his replacement?
He’s been disasterous. deBlasio and his corrupt pygmy wife are elitests.
He still seems oblivious to all the dysfunction of his city.

I learned the word perambulation about 15 years ago. So rarely see it used.

Primary election was today so I imagine the general election is in November. (?)

I heard Curtis Sliwa is running against his stupid ass. Take it for what it’s worth.

Perambulation: aka touring or walking around.
Yes. It’s a very old fashioned word. I’m not even sure if the English still use it, except for one thing: A Baby Buggy.
They cut it short and say ‘Pram’.

An old fashioned American word for walking around would be
Promenade.

And so concludes today’s “Fun With Words” workshop.

Maybe some parts of the city, but definitely not the upper-eastside of Manhattan. I lived there briefly in the late 60s and my parents lived there until the mid 80s. Now I have to go there at least once a month for medical reasons. Except for the turnover of businesses, nothing has changed. The streets are trash free and there are no bums. Properties are neatly kept now as then.

Curtis has been running for various positions in local politics for many years. I recall back in the 1990’s when ex-Marine Geoff Metcalf was hosting a radio talk show on KSFO AM in San Francisco. Sometimes Curtis Sliwa would guest host.

I’m positive that I heard about him campaining for office more than once back then. He seems very able, very likable.
I don’t know why Curtis has never (to my knowledge) been elected to any office. Usually, after striking out two or three times, a potential candidate stops going for that goal.
Campaigning can be very expensive and personally draining.

And so concludes today’s “Fun With Words” workshop.

It rings with me because of its Latin roots ("per", through; "ambulo, ambulare" to walk). These Latin words wind up all over the place in English, and the earliest "ambulances" had to do with carrying the wounded away.

Not quite. I would say he took the city back to 1993, albeit Brooklyn is generally nicer than it was even back then. The 1970s and 80s were much much worse than now, albeit cheaper.
